Apparently it takes temperature reading without even touching anything. According to the website (http://www.kidzmed.com) the Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer takes accurate temperature readings without touching the skin. It will also take the temperature reading of our baby's bottle, bathwater, anything that you can think of.
This intrigued me, as my niece has just had her first baby, and had gotten one of those ear thermometers. The baby did not like it at all when she stuck it in her ear. Don't even mention my grand nieces reaction to the little baby rectal thermometer!
I picked up the Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer at Wal-Mart for 49.94, and took it over to her. We tried it out, while the baby was asleep, and it worked. It showed the temperature perfectly.
The Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer takes 4 AAA batteries which naturally are not included. The battery cover was a bit difficult to get open but with a nail file we got it. We also tried what the web site had said, and tested the bottle before we fed her, and then later on we tested the bath water. There are just so many uses for this thermometer.
The Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer is extremely accurate, and has been tested to ASTM standards. (American Society for Testing and Materials) According to them it is accurate to +/-0.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer has been endorsed by the Food and Drug Administration as well. To me those are pretty good recommendations.
I talked to my doctor about the Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer and she said that the ear thermometers are not at all accurate in her opinion. I told her about getting one one for my niece, and she suggested I might want to get another one for myself.
I went back to Wal-Mart and got myself one. My wife gets periodic fevers (She has Lupus and Fibromyalgia) and we need to make certain that her fevers don't get out of hand, or we might have to make a trip to the emergency room. The Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer just makes good sense to have.
Anyone who has an infant or toddlers, or just wants to have an accurate thermometer needs to get a Thermofocus 5-in-1 Non-Contact Thermometer
