The Third Season of the Immensely Successful Series Prison Break, Returns on September 17th

After breaking into Fox River Penitentiary to rescue his wrongfully condemned brother, miraculously escaping, surviving for an entire season as a fugitive, only to be caught again in the Season 2 Finale, Michael Schofield must escape yet again from a prison in Panama, he himself now facing homicide charges. Apparently, The Company, the organization who organized the fake assassination of the President's brother and who later framed Michael's brother for the deed was the same organization behind Michael's imprisonment, as he must now help plan another prisoner's escape.

Prison Break is known to fans for it's somewhat original cliff-hangers. These are cliffhangers which leave you on the edge of your seat, but at the same time satisfy previous mysteries, so as to leave you with an overall state of satisfaction at the end of each episode, while at the same time (patiently) anticipating the next one. The Season 2 Finale was somewhat different with regard to this aspect, however. The fact that the main character, having escaped prison, has just been imprisoned somewhere else, is almost ridiculous and seems to be too far a stretch of the plot. At the same time, this stretch brings with it suspense, and while although Prison Break may have strayed from the original setting of Fox River, the same idea will likely still be in effect in the 3rd season.

The suspense-driven series is also known for it's somewhat eager approach to killing off somewhat important characters. Throughout the first and second seasons we were treated to the non-hesitant deaths of many important characters. Characters like Veronica Donovan, Haywire, John Abruzzi, and even the young and somewhat innocent Tweener all fell victims to the fate of an immediate death. One of the few exceptions to this general "even the seemingly important characters can die" rule was Agent Paul Kellerman, who lucked out when his gun amazingly jammed on him during his attempted suicide.

This known fact about the series brings up the first of many questions fans are probably asking themselves about the upcoming third season. Who else will be killed off, and under what circumstances? Does the grasp of the Company extend even beyond the US presidency, and if so just how far does it go? Why exactly would the Company still be concerned with Lincoln Burrows and Michael Schofield even after Burrows was exonerated? These questions, it seems, are in desperate need of answers. Unfortunately, our anticipation can only be satisfied when the opening episode of Season 3 airs on September 17th this Monday.
