First invented in the US in 1960, snowboarding was soon subsequently welcomed and cheerfully embraced by snow sports fans. Little by little it got the lime light with the dramatic artistic features it involves, getting the thrill of adrenaline for extreme sensations lovers. In 1998, snowboarding gained international recognition as an Olympic game to the joy of athletes who now get the opportunity of participating to international competitions such as the Olympic Winter Games, where only the select snowboarders in the world gather.

As snowboarding has continued to be more and more popular, it is pretty easy to locate a professional instructor that can teach you all the basic techniques, resort rules and safety policies particular to this sport. All beginners must apply for a form of lessons and not just go for a ride, especially if you've never been on a snowboard before. More experienced students, however, can request their instructors for tougher training conditions but all these new challenges take time. It's not a matter of days or weeks till you arrive at being an expert, so try not to opt for the very difficult slopes when you've just started snowboarding for a week.

Alpine sports Is composed of a lot of dangers and this is the reason protective gear is highly recommended by all instructors. Freestyle snowboarding is known to be dangerous even for an expert, so, helmets are a must in such cases. In snowboarding, the head, wrist and tail-bones are the most vulnerable to accidents, and special protective equipment needs to be used for these body parts too. You should also be cautious with the boots you select, they must fit you well and feel comfortable. They should to be tighter right beneath the knee, but without obstructing the moves.

Goggles is another absolute snowboarding article, they will effectively help you not to get blinded by the extreme light and will also protect your eyes from snow. Snow in conjunction with the sun light can be highly bad for your eyesight, not to mention that snowboarding requires excellent visibility. Goggles are imperative for successful attempts, as well as for your own protection. Do not set upon a slope without this necessary gear!

Another danger that many beginners are bent upon to take is hitting the back-country area of the ski ground, several are attracted by such slopes particularly because they are absent from any visitors and give them extra adrenaline. When snowboarding in such areas, you have to take extra precautions since an avalanche is a continual threat on not used, wind-exposed slopes. Even accomplished riders can be caught off guard by an avalanche, always keep in mind to go slowly when snowboarding off piste!
