The Thunder They Call Miley, Roared into Atlanta

I have to admit. I had to see for myself what the mass hysteria was all about surrounding the pint-size teenager who has put all other concerts to shame this year, with her record setting ticket sales and sold out arenas. I expected a lot, just like everyone else. Being very lucky to have snagged a ticket just a week before the concert, I was ready; notepad and earplugs in tow to soften the steady screaming I was about to endure.

The Jonas Brothers opened up the show full throttle, which immediately had me on the edge of my seat taking notice. Kicking the show off with "Kids of the Future", the guys came down on a crane and ruled the floor. Joe Jonas was a pro at sliding across the floor and making all the girls shrill with delight. The brothers sang in harmonic unison on "Just Friends", and smoothly segued into "That's Just the Way We Roll". After the heartfelt "Hello Beautiful", pictures of roller coasters sprouted around all across the stage to introduce "Goodnight and Goodbye." From "Hold on, to the extremely popular and radio friendly, "S.O.S." the Jonas Brothers proved that they are powerhouses to stay, and can hold their own in the near future on a headlining tour.

There was only a 20 minute interval, and the much anticipated dimming of the lights to jump start the Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana set began. With a kaleidoscope of colors dancing across the entire arena, Miley fashionably descended down in a shimmering box. Donning silver and black, Hannah Montana seemed to match her surroundings perfectly. "Rock Star" was the song of choice to get the party started, and it followed through on every element. Every color of the rainbow was included in wardrobe and it set the pace with songs such as "Life's What You Make It" and "Old Blue Jeans". With a plethora of pyrotechnics and fireworks to light the sky of the arena, Hannah made sure that you were energized by the effects and the dance moves (Choreographed by Kenny Ortega).

After a showcase of a Hannah & Jonas Brothers duet, the Jonas Brothers took the stage once more to treat the audience with more of their infectious tunes, such as " Year 3000". Soon after, the introduction of Miley Cyrus was set to the tone of a new wave feel with the upbeat song "See You Again". With a combination Big Band/Spanish Flamingo appeal, the "Let's Dance" numbers was a favorite with the crowd. There were many feel good moments of the night. "The most widely known "Best of Both Worlds" has all kids, and even mothers standing up out of their seat dancing and singing along to the music. Miley could not have ended the night any better, than with a tribute to her grandfather. Perched on a stool in the middle of the stage with a guitar, as if she were in an intimate club setting, Miley sang to the accompaniment of a montage of pictures in the background of her missed loved one. "I Miss You" was definitely touching and sentimental. It capped off a wonderful and entertaining show, that was worth experiencing, and I had forgotten all about my earplugs.
