The Time: Do You Have It?

And If You Don't, Just Who Does?

Bridgitte Williams
"Do you have the time?" he asked me. "No, I don't" I said. A bit regretfully, I must admit. "So, you don't have the time either, I take it?" I asked. He said "no." I said "too bad, I could really use some" and he started laughing. Long laughs that signified a greatly needed release, I thought to myself. Good. I like to do that. Make folks laugh. I then said "if I ever do have some time, I would share it or sell it. It would be priceless, don't you think?" He agreed. Getting up, he said, "I will send you some time, if I ever have any left to spare." I laughed and said thank you. I meant it. He did too. Time to go. It had arrived. I wish I had asked him if we didn't have the time, just who does? I am sure he would have laughed again.

The time flies. You cannot catch it. Or rewind it. But, what about when it moves too slowly for us? Wouldn't it be nice to save that wasted unwanted time for another occasion? I think so. Having a pocket full of extra time to pull out and use when you wanted to. To enjoy a fair ride, to make a kiss last longer, to have to spend with another that you love, to add to long weekend that just isn't quite long enough. What fun that would be. Adding time. Pure magic. Think if you could store time in a bank and pull it out when you needed it. With interest. Wow.

Only time will tell. Tell what? Well, that is a very good question. What if time could talk? It could say "Don't waste your time waiting" or "Wait patiently, it will get better" or who knows what. Time talking could be a bit bossy and that is a frightening thought. Time to leave, time to go to bed, time to go to work, time to cut the grass. I think, come to think of it, time already bosses us around quite a bit, doesn't it? Yep. I like the time to relax best. Time to take it easy, time to listen to music, time to read for pleasure, time to write, all of this time is special and very appreciated by me. The time spent with friends, family and loved ones is the most precious for most of us. It is also fun to enjoy time for ourselves, sometimes, too.

Every hour counts. Well, I wish it wouldn't, so much. I mean, I want quality time but, not time ticking away never to return, you know? Can we not count time? That would be nice. Time is free. Yes, it is. Guess that is why it is fleeting. Hmm. Take time. Well, thank you. I will. Take time to love, to laugh, to cry, to believe, to give, to wander and to wonder. About time. About what you wish to. Do you have the time? Yes, you do. But, only if you take it. Time ticks away and our lives go with it. Count slowly. I have the time but, it is not measured in hours and minutes and seconds. I can't give you time but, you may spend yours wisely. Happily. As we all can. What time is it? Time to not waste it. Ah, time to go. Where does the time go? With us, silly. Bye. Oh, and if you have the time, please give it back. Many of us could sure use it.

Yes, I have often worked or read against a deadline ... yet at other times, I was bored, because - in part at least - I do not have cable TV and rarely watch it except for weekends. Shalom--and well-done O Wise Timeless Person. (LOL)
