The Tongue

"A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul" (Proverbs 18:7).

The tongue is
Comparable to a rudder,
Which guides a ship to shore.

In spite of being
Anchored on the bank,
It propels its way to the fore.

Oh, how we
Long to contain it,
Positively maintaining its place.

But it plunges
Into zones restricted,
Launching conflicts from the face.

Soon after
It recoils in shame,
Primarily after being caught.

That's when it timidly
Slithers into the mouth,
Invariably, tied in a knot.
