Nailbrush
This devise is a small, usually oblong, brush that is used to clean dirt and grime from under the nail and from the cuticle beds.
Buffer
There are different types of buffers, but the most common is resembling an emery board, but has four sides, which each have a different grade of buffing material. Lighter grade sides are for smoothing out the nails, while the harder parts can be used to buff out bumps.
Clippers
We use finger nail clippers to shorten the length of our nails or to cut off hang nails. When we break a nail it is important to have some clippers around to get rid of any uneven, jagged edges.
Cuticle Nippers
Use cuticle nippers to remove the loose skin around the cuticle. Never use them to actually cut the cuticle, which can harm the nail and possible lead to an infection.
Orange Stick
Orange sticks are used to push back the cuticle, which is needed when painting nails or putting on false nails. It makes for clean looking cuticle beds. Orange sticks are usually made of plastic or wood.
Emery Board
Also known as a nail file, these sand paper looking boards are used to shorten and shape the nails. There is generally a coarse side for removing a lot of nail and a fine side for making a clean finish.
Cuticle Oil
Cuticle oil is used to lubricate and soften the cuticle. It also makes it easier to push back the cuticle when using an orange stick.
Cuticle Cream
This handy cream helps remove the dead skin around the cuticle, by softening it and making it easier to remove.
Silk Wrap
This mesh like stuff is used to temporarily make repairs to rips and tears in the nails, whether real or fake. It can also be used to help strengthen weak nails.
Nail Hardener
This is a brush on liquid that is used to help harden the nails.
Ridge Filler
This does just what it says, fills in ridges and lines in the nails. It is like a base coat and is generally used under the normal base coat.
Base Coat
A base coat is used to smooth out the nail to make for a more even polished look.
Top Coat
The top coat is put on over the nail polish to help give it a longer life. Top coat can add shine and resiliency to manicured and polished nails.
Nail Polish
This is the stuff we use to add color to our nails. It can also be used to paint designs on the nail. And, it is good for use on both real and fake nails.
Polish Remover
This liquid substance is used to remove nail polish from the finger nails. It can be made with or without acetone. Some even contain an element to help harden and strengthen nails.
