The Top 10 of All Oasis Songs

Ambrosia Jefferson
My favorite band since 1995 has been Oasis, I may be in the minority of the American side of the pond but I confess they will be my favorite for the foreseeable future. The band broke up in 2010 but not before selling over 70 million records world wide with 7 albums of fresh music and a number of other works. Selection just 10 songs from the vast discography was no easy task but here goes my Top 10 Oasis songs.

Talk Tonight the B-side of Some Might Say Single: The song came out in 1995 and in my humble opinion should not have been a B-side. The song is beautiful and haunting with lyrics and a melody that will make you feel the emotion of the song. It was preformed by Noel instead of Liam and so it does not have a gravely feel to it, a purely beautiful song.

Whatever from the Whatever Single 1994: Another song that did not get as much credit as it should have. This is a fun song with some fun lyrics to go with it. I love the upbeat fun nature of it. The music video also complimented this song perfectly.

The Masterplan the B-side of Wonderwall Single 1995: You may see a trend by now I tend to like the B-sides, but the fantastic thing about Oasis is that the B-sides are just as good as the A-sides. This song is another slower song, but it is backed up by a strings section and it adds just a completely new level of sound to this song. The lyrics themselves certainly make you think about the old saying how everything happens for a reason.

Step Out B-side of Don't look back in Anger 1995: Upbeat and sassy this song was my favorite getting ready for a date song. It is up beat and makes you think about doing that sassy runway walk. Pop on a pair of high heel boots and do a little dance. Cannot be the guitar chords on this one either.

Some Might Say from What's the Story Morning Glory 1995: I seem to have a trend of loving the older songs but you honestly cannot beat them this is another prime example. The song is upbeat and is another fun reminder that some say one thing and some say others. Noel Gallagher has never professed to be a thinker when he writes but one only has to listen to the lyrics to thing he might be lying about that.

She's Electric from What's the Story Morning Glory 1995: This song is short and a filler song but it is quirky and cute. A perfect driving song this one always makes the list when my friends and I go out on road trips. Weather it is a 2-hour drive or an 8-hour one.

Sad Song from Definitely Maybe 1994: This is one of those songs you listen to when you need a good cry. It honestly is a sad song the title does not lie. However, it is a beautiful sad song with soothing chords and beautiful lyrics. Everyone needs a good cry sometimes and this is a great song to do it with.

Lyla from Don't Believe the truth 2005: I like this song enough to have named one of my sassiest cats after it that should tell you something. The song does not seem to have actual meaning in the lyrics but the guitar, drumbeats are great, and it is a classic rock sounding song.

Little by Little from Heathen Chemistry 2002: This is another one that is a good crying song. With such potent lyrics as "Little by Little the wheels of your life are slowly falling off." It is potent and heart wrenching but it is hauntingly beautiful.

I Hope, I think, I know from Be Here Now 1997: When I was in high school, I did a dance routine to this song. It has an up beat sound with firm beats that give you a kick of hope. Saying "Life is hit or miss." what a true comment if I ever heard one.

In short, no matter what Oasis album you have or if you are listening to the B-sides box sets that they have you will enjoy yourself. You can go through completely gamut of emotions from top to bottom this band is the epitome of Brit Rock. If you like, other British rock bands give these battling brothers a listen.
