As the time of year rolls around when horror films are suddenly the only thing anyone is watching; I thought I would share my list of top 10 greatest horror films with you. I actually wrote out my list and then did a little research (more on that later).

I was babysitting the first time I saw Poltergeist. It was the scariest movie I had ever seen! Looking back, the best part of it was that I watched this movie on a Beta machine (VCR's were not going to compete with Beta...we all know how that turned out!)

Good list! I'm a horror junkie, personally, and the "Nightmare" movies are some of my favorite.

I do like the more psychological thrillers than the blood and guts. Of course these have some of all of that in them. Thanks all for sharing your BOO too :)

The Shining is one that scares me...Redrum! I don't much like blood and guts type horror movies...The Omen (original) freaks me out every time!

I heard on the radio the other night that a good way for a man to get a second date is to take the woman to a horror movie (or something scary like a haunted house on Halloween). Being scared releases the same hormones that laughter does. (This is why you feel like laughing right after you've been scared.) And when the man holds a woman after she's been scared it makes her feel safe. Put the two together and the woman will bond faster. Well, at least that's what the researchers claim.

Cool article! I always use articles like this the second before I decide I'm going to watch a horror film.

That is NOT cool, Richard, that's gross. LOL. And kind of cool too I suppose ;) And I know, Kristie...I'm such a girl but even cuddled up with someone I jump at the scary parts (even if they are cheesy scary parts, lol) And Jennifer, Psycho is one of my all time favs--well duh, its on the list, geesh (on me). The psychological aspect is just amazing!!! Happy scary movie watching all!!!

I've seen some of these films, but I've never cared to see "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" because I didn't want to support something that might give some whack-o ideas. I cut my knee with a chainsaw many years ago but was lucky enough to just glaze it which only cut through the skin. On the to the hospital I looked inside the cut and saw my muscles in my leg. Pretty cool, huh? I ended up getting about twenty stitches. If it would have been someone else's leg, I would have probably fainted!

These are definitely some of the scariest. I certainly wouldn't watch them alone at night. :-)

Nice list! I really like Psycho and Halloween!
