With the immense popularity of these chefs, people have forgotten about the "other" chefs that have made their mark in television, cartoons, or even comic books. They were not given the same level of praise and scrutiny as the new breed of celebrity chefs. To pay tribute to these lesser known chefs and cooks, I present the Top 10 List of Lesser Known Celebrity Chefs.
10. Chef Gaston.. The name sounds like a generic name referring to a French Chef. Well, the truth is, he is a French Chef. He is the temperamental chef at the Lodge Mansion, which is home to Mr. Hiram Lodge who happens to be the father of the spoiled brat Veronica Lodge. And if there's Veronica Lodge, there's Archie. If you don't know Archie, then you are too young.
9. Chef Paolo. Chef Who!?! Okay, so his name doesn't ring a bell, but if you are hooked to Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, chances are you have seen him. Trust me, you won't miss him. He is the Italian chef who loves to eat and it shows, big time. He is best remembered in the episode "Health and Fitness". One of the most hilarious parts of the episode is when Chef Paolo wakes up in the middle of the night to get his usual midnight snack only to find that Cody left him a note and a piece of chocolate chip. Have a laugh and watch the clip here.
8. Victor Baxter. Also known as Raven Baxter's dad in That's So Raven. Gourmet chef Victor owns a restaurant named The Chill Grill. While it has no Michelin rating, you will be impressed at Victor's accomplishment. He is now the new chef at the White House in the spin-off show Corey In the House. That alone is enough to land him the number 8 spot!
7. Bernize Beazley and Pop Tate. You might think that the list is getting weirder and weirder. If you can relate to #10, then you will certainly remember Miss Beazley and Pop Tate. Beazley is the grouchy cafeteria chef at Riverdale High School. The students of Riverdale thinks her dishes are awful. But with Jughead Jones standing by her side, she doesn't need any other customer. That boy could eat! Pop Tate, on the other hand, is the owner of the Chocklit Shoppe where Archie and his friends hang out. He is the exact opposite of Beazly. He usually is the sounding board of Archie and the gang. What's more, his food is said to be ten times better than Beazley.
6. Luigi Risotto. The name says it all. He is an Italian chef who owns a restaurant in Springfield. Yes, he is one of the characters in the hit show The Simpsons. He is rude to his customers but they won't dare fight back because he is known to have some connections to local gangster Fat Tony. They don't want a severed horse head for breakfast.
5. Jack Bourdain. An Anthony Bourdain-inspired character is bound to be very interesting. How can it not be? A life dedicated to women, drugs, and booze is always an interesting start off point for a show. Jack is able to sober up and get back to doing chef duties. It's just too bad the show didn't stay long enough for us to know how far Jack could go.
4. Monica Geller. She may be famous but not for being a chef in the show Friends. She's best known for being a neat freak. It's so extreme that she even clean her cleaning tools. Now, if all chefs are like that, the culinary world is safer place.
3. Swedish Chef. This guy, err, Muppet is genius! Let's just say he is the MacGyver of the kitchen. Who else can cook up a dish using tennis rackets and firearms? But that's not what Swedish Chef is famous for. He is known for his gibberish talk. Bork, bork, bork!
2. Jerome McElroy. Also known as the Southpark "Chef". He's probably the most popular in the adult in the show given that the main stars are kids. He's a typical chef in that he is mostly pre-occupied with women and sex. Perhaps he's been hanging out too much with Jack Bourdain.
1. Sponge Bob Squarepants. He is popular enough to be in the top list of celebrity chefs alongside Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramsay, but let's face it, not a lot of people are even aware that he is a cook. He is a Fry Cook at the Krusty Krab, to be exact. Those who are aware don't really care much about his job, what people know is that Spongebob lives in a pineapple under the sea...that he is absorbent and yellow and porous....It's nautical nonsense that will make you drop on the deck and flop like a fish....you get the idea!
