10. Wario Land: Shake it!
Nintendo is known for releasing games that contain Wario which are extremely wacky, hilarious, and stupid. This game is no different, but it's loads of fun packed into a tiny game. The story mode is a bit short, and as always, the plot is horrid.
What makes the game so fun is its puzzles that need to be solved along the way, as well as the weird way that the player controls Wario. Just by shaking the controller, Wario will complete an array of weird moves depending on where he is located and what his tasks are. Mindless fun.
9. Mega Man 9
Bringing the classics back is always fun, and Mega Man was definitely a classic. The graphics are not an improvement on anything - in fact they're horrid, but that's what makes the game so likable. Everyone born before 1995 knows that Mega Man was one of the defining games of its time, and for good reason. The Blue Bomber is back for an all new adventure, one that is extremely fun and difficult. Did we mention that the game is hard?
8. de Blob
You're a blob of stuff, and you have to save the city that's been turned into a grey and drab environment by some evil guy. What do you do? Run into some paint and roll around the town!
This game is not only cute, it's surprisingly fun for a concept you would think gets boring within the first 10 seconds. You have tasks and goals to achieve within a time limit as you try to save the city by painting it. Roll around and have some fun. This is a great pick for all ages, and it's not really considered a puzzle game either (we hate it when puzzle games are too hard).
7. Okami
Okami is a combination of Japanese folklore, myth, and legends into the story of Amaterasu, a Japanese Goddess who saved Japan from darkness. The game, when released for Playstation 2, received the honor of being IGN's 2006 Game of the Year. Likewise, it would have been expected to have a positive critical reception when released for the Wii on April 15, 2008.
The game's animation is extremely unique, as it uses something called the Celestial Brush, where the game screen is turned into a canvas, and the player draws on the screen to create movement and such. For example, the player can cut enemies by drawing lines through them or create structures such as bridges by painting them. How fitting is that for the Wii?
6. World of Goo
Wait...another blob game?
It has an aggregate score of 96% from Metacritic, and for good reason. Think of the World of Goo as pipeline, except much cuter and more interesting. The goal of World of Goo is to get from one end of the level to the other by building structures using "goo balls" as the only materials. Even so, each goo ball has its own unique ability, making sure that the player exploits all possible capabilities and analyzing situations from all angles before building.
You can play multiplayer as well, competing amongst your friends to see who has the tallest tower. The tower is built using the excess goo the player did not use during the level. Sounds fun? We loved it.
5. No More Heroes
Did someone say violence? This game is full of it.
One of the first "action/adventure/mature" titles for the Wii, No More Heroes offers combat controls like never seen before (since the Wii has never been seen before). The game's controls are pretty intuitive, which make it extremely fun and easy to learn. You press buttons in order to complete moves and swing a variety of swords, and you use your wrist flicking and Wii Remote swining to complete finishing moves.
The story is also extremely wacky. If you're old enough and mature enough to handle this title, give it a shot.
4. Guitar Hero: World Tour
Yet another fad that has hit the gaming world by storm. If you haven't heard of this game, you should really go out and give it a try. Guitar Hero involves pressing buttons on a guitar controller that correspond to the beats of the music and the keys appearing on the screen. Your score is based on how well you complete each level by timing your moves correctly and pressing the correct buttons at the correct time as they flow down the screen.
It's a bit similar to Dance Dance Revolution in which your feet have to press certain areas on the mats to make certain dance combos, except this game is played with a guitar strapped around your neck. Go figure.
3. Wii Fit
Because we are all overweight and lazy, the Japanese have decided to get everyone in shape by releasing the Wii Fit, a game for the Nintendo Wii that utilizes a pressure sensitive pad to structure a workout specific to our own body weights.
Although fun, the Wii fit's workout scheme is a bit annoying at times, and can be cumbersome to say the least. Even so, the Wii Fit is a revolutionary piece of video gaming software that shows that we have come a long way. It's innovative.
2. Mario Kart Wii
Just like the previous games Nintendo has made for the SNES and N64, the Wii version of Mario Kart is no different, except that you're given a cool steering wheel to control, giving the player a feeling of actually driving (as the sensors pick up your movements).
The reason this game stands out from its predecessors is its graphics, the sheer number of maps available for play, and the ability to play online against other players around the world.
1. Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Possibly THE most anticipated game for the Wii yet, Super Smash Brothers Brawl offers an array of new characters, including King Dedede, Diddy Kong, Kid Icarus, Solid Snake, and many more. Brawl allows the player to choose between 35 different playable characters, each with his or her own special moves and combos. The game also offers many different modes to choose from including classical, group, tournament, and adventure. And as always, the ability to play with up to 3 other friends in the room or on the internet.

Post a Commentde Blob, sounds cool :) Sheri
great picks
I havn't played with Wii yet but I heard it's a ton of fun and I like that kids get execise when they play because American kids (and adults) are killing themselves slowly. We are all such couch potatoes
Great selections!
