The Top 10 Reality Show Hosts of All Time

It's Hard to Find a Good Host for Anything, Especially a Reality Show!

Annie Trinh
Reality TV can get a bad rap nowadays for being mind-numbing with crazy people trying to get their 15 minutes of stardom. But, then there is reality TV that can be entertaining and a real pleasure to watch. A large part of the success of a reality show originates from who is hosting. The following is a list of the top reality show hosts of all time.

1. Heidi Klum from Project Runway
She's beautiful, smart, and personable and is the host of one of the most popular reality shows to hit cable television. Heidi Klum is truly a renaissance woman, but she still exudes a charming and friendly exterior which makes her a pleasure to watch on Project Runway. And since she's been in the fashion industry for so long, you have to give her credit for knowing what she's judging. For more on Heidi and Project Runway, go to www.bravotv.com

2. Phil Keoghan from Amazing Race
Phil Keoghan is one of those rare reality show icons that will go down in history as being one of the best. Why? He does his job well: he narrates what the contestants are doing, where they're going, who's behind, and who's ahead. But he does it with an Australian flair which makes it even more worldly to watch. And he doesn't add in any cheesy lines just for effect or try to steal the show from the contestants. For more details on Phil, check out www.cbs.com

3. Tyra Banks from Top Model
Tyra Banks--you either love her or you hate her. On her show, America's Next Top Model, she can be a bit loud and annoying, but for the most part, she's just being herself. She really can relate to the contestants and you know that she wants the best for them even as she's showing them the exit door after they've been eliminated. And you have to admire how much of a success she's become at such a young age. Check out www.bravotv.com for more details on the upcoming season.

4. Padma Lakshmi from Top Chef
It's easy watching a show that is hosted by such a pretty face. But Padma Lakshmi is more than just eye candy for the cutting edge Top Chef show. She's also a chef herself and has published many of her own cooking books, so she has an experienced palate as well. www.bravotv.com

5. Jeff Probst from Survivor
There's been a lot of drama and controversey on the set of Survivor, but the one thing that keeps it going is the host, Jeff Probst. We also have to give him props for being easy on the eyes as well! www.cbs.com

6. Amderson Cooper from The Mole
He was only there for two seasons, but Anderson Cooper was a great host for The Mole. He had a human effect on the show that was really nice to see. He comforted the players when they were eliminated and he elated with them in their triumphs. Anderson Cooper is just a good guy. www.abc.com

7. Tom Bergeron from Dancing with the Stars
I'm not too fond of this reality show, but for some reason whenever I see Tom Bergeron it makes the show more watchable. I mean, he brought us all those funny home videos, too! www.abc.com/DancingWithTheStars

8. Ty Pennington from Extreme House Makeover
Something about Extreme House Makeover changed the face of reality tv forever--it made people empathize with their fellow man instead of judging them. Ty Pennington does a good job with balancing the purpose of the show with the entertainment value. www.abc.com

9. Joe Rogan from Fear Factor
Joe Rogan looks just like one of those good ol' boys you can imagine hanging out on the patio drinking some beer. He's relatable. And so as the host of Fear Factor, its nice to him revel and repulse at the tasks that the contestants have to endure. www.nbc.com/Fear_Factor

10. Ryan Seacrest of American Idol
Ryan Seacrest has been around for quite some time, now. And I don't think he's going anywhere so I think he deserves to be on the list of top reality show hosts. Also, he puts up with Simon Cowell. Enough said. www.americanidol.com
