The Top 10 Signs Your Bank May Fail

Matthew Stoker
A famous economist who predicted the economic meltdown, Nouriel Roubini, has predicted that approximately 400 out of the 800 trouble United States banks will fail this year. This is bad news as the United States attempts to dig itself out of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. However, as the names of the troubled banks are kept secret, how are consumers to know if their bank might fail? Ten warning signs are listed below.

1. Your bank no longer offers complimentary coffee due to "economic difficulties", and is charging $5 for a cup of Joe.

2. You notice that the fancy furniture inside of your banks waiting area has been replaced with particle board balanced on top of cinderblocks. If you see this, it might be a sign that your bank is about to go out of business.

3. If occasionally your bank's ATM starts spitting out Monopoly money, instead of Uncle Sam's greenbacks, then your bank may be going out of business.

4. If you notice that your bank's president is moonlighting as a teller at another bank, it might be time to move your savings elsewhere.

5. If you notice that your bank begins charging you a special $50 fee for cashing checks, it could be a sign of near financial collapse.

6. If you notice that your bank has fired all of the bank tellers except for one, it might mean that your bank is about to collapse.

7. If one day you visit your bank to find bank employees removing everything from the vault and shipping it somewhere, it might be time to get a new bank.

8. If your bank's signs have been changed to "Joey's Pizza" and construction workers are adding a kitchen in the back of the bank, it might mean your bank is about to go out of business.

9. If while watching the financial news you hear your bank's name mentioned and the commentators snicker and laugh, it might be time to get a new bank.

10. If your bank sells all of its ATMs and replaces them with a guy sitting inside of a box, it might be time to look for a new bank.
