1. Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd from Grey's Anatomy

Meredith and Derek have had us all enthralled, through seasons one to five of Grey's Anatomy with their on again, off again relationship. It all started in Season One when Meredith and Derek met at Joe's the night before Meredith was due to start her internship at Seattle Grace Hospital. This fateful night resulted in Meredith and Derek ending up in bed together. Imagine their surprise when they found out who each others identities were, on Meredith's first day on the job at Seattle Grace.

Their relationship has been through many ups and downs but still managed to result in a proposal and a marriage. Downs in their relationship have included the discovery that Derek has a wife and Derek deciding to give his marriage with Addison another go. Romantic moments have included Meredith's big gesture where she lays out future plans for their house together, in candles outside Derek's trailer.

2. Lisa Cuddy and Gregory House from House M.D.

The relationship between Cuddy and House is complicated to say the least. The chemistry between these two characters has kept us all wondering when will Cuddy and House finally get together? During Season Five it appeared as though Cuddy and House had finally acknowledged their feelings for one another when Cuddy helped House withdraw from Vicodin. Unfortunately this was later revealed to be a hallucination by House. The heat between these two characters keeps us hoping for a happy ending.

3. Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway from ER

Doug and Carol start Season One of ER apart, with a failed romance between them in their history. Doug tries to win Carol back, but she keeps him at a distance. During the end of Season Three, Doug and Carol grow closer and their relationship is rekindled. Carol falls pregnant in Season Five and Doug leaves for Seattle unaware of Carol's pregnancy. Once Doug learns of the birth of the twins he asks Carol to come to Seattle to live with him which she declines. Happily though, by the end of Season Six, Carol reunites with Doug and she and the twins move to Seattle to be with him.

4. Izzie Stevens and Denny Duquette from Grey's Anatomy

How can we forget the short but very romantic relationship between Izzie and Denny. Izzie falls in love with Denny while he is a patient at Seattle Grace and they become engaged. Izzie tries to save Denny by worsening his condition so that he will be moved up the transplant list. However the transplant was not enough to keep Denny alive and he passes away. Izzie inherits 8.7 million dollars from Denny and uses it to open a free clinic at the hospital in memory of Denny.

5. Chris Turk and Carla Espinosa from Scrubs

Turk and Carla met on Turks first day of work at Sacred Heart Hospital. Initially Carla rejected Turk's advances and gave the impression she was not interested him. Turk eventually won Carla over and they officially became a couple. Carla and Turk have a solid relationship and often give advice to the hospital staff. Season Three sees these two marry and they eventually go on to have two children, their relationship surviving trying to get pregnant and a brief separation.

6. Addison and Pete from Private Practice

After their initial kiss in the pilot episode, Pete and Addison have left us wondering will they, or won't through the following episodes. Pete and Addison are now both dating other people, and it remains to be seen whether there will ever be a rekindling of this relationship.

7. Mark Greene and Elizabeth Corday from ER

Mark and Elizabeth started their relationship in Season Five of the popular medical show ER. By Season Seven the two were married and had a child. However not everything was smooth sailing for this couple as Mark was diagnosed with a brain tumor and eventually dies.

8. Owen Hunt and Cristina Yang from Greys Anatomy

Owen and Cristina's relationship has been full of drama and emotion from the start. Highlights in their relationship have included Owen visiting Cristina's apartment and telling her she is beautiful and their first kiss together. Currently Cristina and Owen are apart, as Cristina is terrified of the possible consequences to her of the PTSD Owen is experiencing. We can only hope that the new season of Grey's Anatomy brings these two together again.

9. Luke Spencer and Laura Webber from General Hospital

Although this couple started off their relationship with Laura being raped by Luke, they went on to become one of the most popular TV couples on General Hospital. They married and had two children showing the audience that redemption is possible.

10. Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan and Major Frank Burns from M*A*S*H

Although both Houlihan and Burns went by the book during the day, at night these two showed their steamy sides in a passionate relationship. Unfortunately their relationship ended when Major Frank Burns was unwilling to divorce his wife.
