These are my Top 10 Vegan and Vegetarian restaurants in the Los Angeles area. I hope you find this helpful!
1. Paru's Indian Vegetarian Restaurant
This is a small little restaurant on Sunset Blvd. But big things come in small packages, right? You press the buzzer and the host lets you in, into a very quaint and lush atmosphere with beautiful decor. For a second, you almost forget you are in LA.
The chai is to-die-for, it has the perfect blend of spices and creaminess. The tandoori is amazing, smoky and roasty and a bit curry-ish. The samosas are impeccable, deliciously potato-y and good with chutney.
The service is quite amazing, the hosts are extremely friendly and the food is served fast and hot.
2. Truly a Vegan Restaurant
Truly a Vegan Restaurant is a nice place on Hollywood Blvd. The staff is pleasant and quite helpful. They are very inexpensive, you get a lot for a little cash. This is also a good place to deliver from, the food arrives quickly, hot and well-packaged.
They serve delicious, real vegan food. One of my favorite things about this place is they serve breakfast ALL DAY LONG. They serve soups, salads, sandwiches and burgers, wraps, curries, veggie meats, noodles, and also vegan sushi.
Their blueberry pancakes are DIVINE, and their Birdy Burger is so delicious, you can hardly tell it's vegan.
3. Native Foods Restaurant
This restaurant is a cozy eatery, tucked away in a quaint little neighborhood. The decor isn't that outstanding, but the staff is extremely friendly and the food is YUMMY!
The Native Foods menu features a wide variety of foods, like salads, these delicious veggie "bowls" packed with healthy, fresh and crunchy vegetables, and have some amazing meat substitutes using soy and temp-eh.
Their Mama Mia pizza is the most addictive vegan food you could imagine, and their portobello mushroom and veggie-sausage burger is amazing. They can be a little pricier than the average vegan place, but it is WORTH IT.
4. Govinda's Natural Food Restaurant
This is restaurant had a cozy, meditative and laid-back atmosphere, and is located on Watseka Ave. right off Venice Blvd. They even have a cute little gift shop upstairs!
This restaurant is pretty Indian, but they tone it down on the heavy spices, as opposed to regular Indian restaurants. You can indulge in their all-you-can-eat buffet for only $6, and pizza is only $2 a slice!
The food is amazing, the staff is pleasant, and they also have a variety of cool imports from India, clothing, incense, literature on Hare Krishna, beads and jewelry and more.
5. Bulan Thai Vegetarian Kitchen
This veggie Thai restaurant is smack in the middle of Melrose Ave, a popular shopping destination. This is GREAT Thai, even if you are a meat-eater!
The "chicken" wings are outstanding, the Busaba Pumpkin and Eggplant lover dishes are lush with flavor and culture, and their soups are divine.
The staff is very friendly, and food is cheap and prompt!
6. Cinnamon Vegetarian Restaurant
This restaurant serves all sorts of Latin and Mexican foods, all vegetarian and vegan, and most importantly DELICIOUS.
It's hard to find a Mexican/Latin vegan restaurant, especially one with amazing food!
It takes a little while to get the food, but it is because everything is freshly made, never refrigerated, frozen or microwaved. Their "steak" fajita burrito is truly addictive.
7. Vegan Glory
This is a tiny little place on Beverly Blvd. The service is prompt, staff is accommodating, and the food is delicious and cheap.
They have some of the best vegan chicken nuggets I have ever eaten, and celebrities like Andy Dick frequent this little restaurant!
8. The Vegan Joint
This is a nice little Thai place on a quiet corner off of Rosa Parks freeway.
They DO serve meat-based meals, but can make anything vegetarian on request, and not just sans-meat, they have lots of yummy meat substitutes.
The service is really good as well, the only con is that this place is SMALL, so large groups shouldn't try to eat there together.
9. California Vegan Restaurant
This restaurant is right on Sunset Blvd.
The pad Thai is the most delicious vegan alternative I have tried, and the spicy eggplant with tofu is exquisite.
Your dinner comes with soup and a spring roll! :)
10. Jax Vegan Cafe
I have to say, the home-made pesto vegan chicken sandwich accompanied by the potato leek soup is what I always order when I go here. The veggie meats are some of the best meat substitutes I have found, and the soup is silky and tasty!
Their BLT is even delicious, and I have never tried veggie bacon that tasted so much like real bacon!
This is definitely a place to try.
