The Top 20 Rock Love Songs

Ask any music lover to make a list of the best songs in any genre, and you're likely to see a look of panic. That panicked look won't come right away, or even when you specify a number, such as the top 10, 20, or even 100 songs. It will come when the music lover sits down to make the list. That's what happened to me when I agreed to list the best 20 rock love songs. I thought it would be fairly easy. I was wrong. A list of 20 great rock love songs didn't even scratch the surface. I could have listed hundreds more. What was I going to do? I did the only thing I could do: I panicked.

Even worse (although I thought it would help), I decided to do a second list. Now I was committed to listing the best 20 rock love songs and the best 20 love songs of any type. Did that help? No. I was determined not to duplicate anything. That meant that I had to come up with a way to avoid slighting any song from either list. If I had 20 love songs for my rock list, and I put a rock song on the other list, what did that mean? Talk about panic!
