Yves Saint Laurent and the 1970's are the two dominate trends of the spring 2011 collections shown in September and October. However, these two trends are geared more towards eveningwear and nightclub attire. Don't worry three trends did emerge for those who love to play in the sun. So if you are a fan of a long, white, denim skirt you are way ahead of the fashion curve for spring 2011.

Daywear Trend for Spring 2011: White

White was major player for spring 2011 daywear. White, light-weight sweater dresses are great casual day wear items for early spring. Italian design house No.21 has set the bar for this look with their white sweater dress. Gabriele Colangelo and Dolce & Gabbana both offer casual and high fashion white daywear fashions for spring 2011. Also, if you love the 80's, Dolce & Gabbana offers white ensembles reminiscent of that era.

Style Tip:
Most white garments tend to be see-through. This is especially so for spring, which would use lighter fabrics. Wearing a white or nude slip, camisole or hosiery can help prevent "peak-a-boo moments"

Daywear Trend for Spring 2011: Denim

Denim almost never goes out of style and is versatile enough to go from daywear into evening. However, the best denim offerings for spring 2011 are meant for daywear. Even the house of Valentino offered up a ruffled, denim shorts suit for spring 2011 daywear. However, the trendiest uses of denim comes from London's commercial design house Twenty8Twelve. Look out for women flocking to purchases dresses similar to Twenty8Twelve's denim babydoll dresses.

Style Tip:
Denim can be made light-weight or heavy weight. Regardless of the weight of the fabric denim suits can be warmer to wear than a pair of jeans. Therefore, wear denim suits during the beginning of spring.

Day Wear Trend for Spring 2011: Long Hemlines

Traditionally springtime is for shorts and short hemlines. However, designers have turned this tradition on its ear for spring 2011. Hemlines are much longer this coming season. These longer hemlines give way to the romantic and boho looks seen during the spring 2011 shows. Designers such as Alberta Ferretti made long hemlines for daywear elegant.

Style Tip:
If you choose a dress or skirt that sweeps the ground, wear flat sandals as heels can dig into the fabric causing garment tears or worse injury from a fall.

Keep a look out for these trends when they hit stores in the coming months. Maybe you will want to wear one or two of these trends together. Perhaps you'd be lucky enough to find a maxi-length, white denim skirt and kill three birds with one stone for daywear attire. Start planning on way to use these trends to update your wardrobe next spring.
