The Top 3 Paintball Fields in Central NY
The War Club paintball field has been around as long as I've been playing paintball in the Utica NY area, which is going on a decade now. This field is in a laid back country setting less than half an hour from Utica, but the owners are serious about paintball.
Recently they have made a lot of improvements to the field and added several new features. They currently maintain 10 different fields with a variety of obstacles. Their admission prices are reasonable and last I knew they allowed players to bring their own paint.
They have speedball courts, as well as an extensive woods course and several mid size fields for small group play. They have a stocked Pro shop and offer rental guns and equipment. The owners are helpful and experienced, making The War Club a good place for people just starting out to go with friends. They even have a grill and picnic area for players to take a break

HeadRush Action Sports in Syracuse, NY
HeadRush is a multifaceted extreme sports complex located in western Syracuse NY, just off Route 690 and NYS Thruway Exit 39. HeadRush is about an hour drive west of Utica NY but it is worth it. Their two enclosed paintball fields are a great place to play when the weather is cold. They are well organized and can efficiently deal with large groups.
They have rental packages, including yearly packages with a discount, and also allow for players to bring their own equipment and paint. The fields are located inside a giant warehouse with two different configurations of inflatable obstacles. The warehouse has a second level gallery, protected by safety netting, which is excellent for spectators and serves as a preparation and storage area for players.
As an added bonus, HeadRush Action Sports is located right next to a Quaker Steak and Lube location with great food and drinks to continue the fun and brag to one's friends about the day's paintball exploits.
HeadRush Action Sports in Syracuse has the best paintball supply store in the area along with staff that can perform installation and repair. Their rental packages include Tippmann 98 Custom markers, the most reliable mid range equipment that I have used. They offer a mix of open play, group events, local team practices and tournaments.

AAA Paintball Park in Constantia, NY
If The War Club is the place to experience laid back open field play and HeadRush has the broadest range of extreme sport participation, AAA Paintball is the place to go for a professional group experience and the most impressive field in Central New York.
AAA Paintball has been open on the North Shore of Oneida Lake, about an hour northwest of Utica NY, for over 15 years. They no longer offer walk in play, but they still offer a fantastic shop and their staff has years of experience in the sport. They are very friendly and professional to work with and have experience with just about everything paintball related. Their markers come with a lifetime of free labor by their factory trained staff.
The field is the best in the area, with a town, fort, stream, marsh and acres of woods. They run a creative variety of games and they now specialize in group games so this is the place to take a party or special event to avoid the crowds and get a customized experience. They rent equipment, and while they do not allow outside paint, their paint is kept climate controlled and I have never had a problem with their equipment.
