The Top 3 Reasons the New England Patriots Will Go Undefeated
Throughout Sports, Many Teams Seek for Performance Not Perfection, but that May Soon Change
3) Their schedule. The New England Patriots entered this season with a schedule that was going to be tough and challenging. 4 out of the 6 teams they face are arguably one of the teams elite. The Jets, Chargers, Bengals and Cowboys are all former playoff teams. Those 4 out of 6 teams in the beginning of the season had big expectations regarding their team and goals. Of course the result was as expected but those teams thought otherwise. New England came into this season with a mission and goal regarding their expectations. Not only have they won big but they won with significance. As a matter of fact, their remaining schedule is slighly easier than the beginning. Only 2 teams remain that are formidable to the team(Indianapolis and Pittsburgh) and they both won the Super Bowl the last two seasons. The remaining teams are teams thriving for improvement and success. Their role will depend greater on how far or close those teams are with one another. But if there's a team that can surprise New England it might be an AFC team, to say the least.
2) Defense. Little that people know, the New England Patriots defense has improved significantly the past 2 seasons. For example, in 2005 they allowed 20 points or more 10 times in that season. Last season, 2006, they allowed 5 times 20 points or greater in a game. That's 5 games less than the last previous season. And only so far, they only allowed it 1 time this season(2007). No doubt their defense is improving every game. Not to mention that they are in the top 10 in some defensive categories including Interceptions(9) and Sacks(16). Not only have they improve defensively but they got a more understanding of what they want to do with their playmakers. And with the veterans of Teddy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel or Rodney Harrison, this team may have the mentality to compete and challenge.
1) Offense. Many people are understanding the significance of how much they improved on their offense. Of course, the addition of Randy Moss made an immediate impact but that's just the beginning. Little that people know this season may be one of the most explosive offenses in recent memory and let me explain.......Tom Brady is by far having his best statistical season ever. Before the season started, Tom Brady in the last 2 seasons had only 6 games when he threw for over 300 yards. So far this season he has done it twice and there's no room for slowing down. Also, one more important stat....The last 2 seasons, the New England Patriots scored 30 points or more 9 times in the last 2 years. So far this season, they have done it 6 times since the beginning of the season and they look like they are not slowing down. And one more important stat......The last 2 seasons the New England Patriots had only 5 receivers when they had 100 yrd receiving. So far this season, at least a receiver is averaging that this year(not to mention that 2 players in Sunday's game had 100 yrd games). So not only have they improved defensively but they improved offensively. This New England team may be one of the few that can do it......
Those are my reasons why they can go undefeated. Of course you need to have the players to perform and execute but you also need the scheme to alter a gameplan. This New England team is a team that is VERY different compared to the other New England teams. They have depth, talent and chemistry within one another and that's a recipe for success. Plus, it makes you wonder what kind of player Tom Brady wouldv'e been if he had his receivers????? You know what, we are finding out right now. Everybody knows that this a team that can win but not everybody knows that this a team that can dominate for all. Plus, if Tom Brady threw only 24 TD's last season and he already has 21 this year, then we may have something to talk about in the upcoming weeks.....

Post a CommentTheir remaining schedule is not very tough at all, i'd be surprised if they lose at all especially after they beat the colts.
It's possible, if key players don't go down with injuries. A big "if" in the NFL. And I'm not sure New England will be playing its starters the last few weeks of the season. They have no competition in the AFC East, and they're going to win the division early. Are they really going to risk Brady in the final week of the regular season against the Giants in NY? Good arguments; good article.
