The Top 3 Worst NFL Head Coaching Decisions

Alfonso Coley
It is a well known fact that any NFL head coach main objective is to utilize the players that their organization has drafted. One of the most essential attributes of becoming a Hall of Fame coach is knowing that the most significant and vital part of their job is to motivate their players, and to make the most of opportunities when they face hardships. The decisions that an NFL head coach make can ultimately determine if their team has a winning season, a mediocre season, or a losing season. But one of the most vital key-points to a NFL head coach success is the health of their star players. This is why these three NFL teams have been chosen because of the very poor coaching decisions; beginning with The Philadelphia Eagles.

#1) Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid decision to play newly acquired Michael Vick as a wild-cat option. When Michael Vick joined the Philadelphia Eagles their opposing foes were preparing to see the ex Atlanta Falcon maybe used a slot wide receiver, or maybe a tail back, or even installed as a running back especially after Bryant Westbrook sustained a head injury that led to a serious concussion. The majority of Philadelphia fans are probably wondering why Michael Vick Talents have not been utilized to give the Eagles offense an edge over their opponents. If Andy Reid used all of the plays that he proclaimed he had for Vick, just maybe the Philadelphia Eagles would have been one of the other undefeated teams in the NFL.

#2) Tennessee Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher refusal to acknowledge that after losing their first 5 games to bench Kerry Collins and install Vince Young in the role of starting quarterback. If it were not for the owner decision advice to bench Kerry Collins, Jeff Fisher may have played him a few more games with no hope of gaining a Wild-Card spot. Mr. Bud Adams influence to bench Kerry Collins and play Vince Young may have been the spark that was needed to restart Vince Young's career and the Titan's hope to end their season on a winning note.

#3) Oakland Raiders Head Coach Tom Cable decision to play JaMarcus Russell and releasing Jeff Garcia under premature circumstances. The Raider Nation and their Fantasy Football players are probably scratching their heads on how bad things have gone for The Oakland Raiders organization. The depth chart for the quarterback position has given Coach Tom Cable to work with, but it would have been a better choice for him to play Bruce Gradkowski.

It will be very interesting to see what team will pick up Michael Vick in the 2010 season. Time will tell if he can prve to be a force on the field in his respective position.

I agree, they completely under-used Vick this year.
