5. To really enjoy what St. Johns has to offer you need to be out on the water, and what better way to do this than to rent a boat for yourself. By having a boat you will be able to go where ever you feel like visiting and you will be able to find secluded beaches that you will be all alone on. Renting a boat for yourself to charter is always fun but if you don't have much sailing experience, then I would recommend reserving a boat and a captain that will also tell you some spots that he knows of.
4. Eating dinner along the beach in Cruz Bay is a very romantic and beautiful place to spend your evening. There are many restaurants that are located right along the beach and offer dazzling views of the sun setting over the neighboring island of St. Thomas in an array of colors. The restaurants here also take great pride in their food and will have local music being played to help with the theme. This is a must for couples, but kids will enjoy it too.
3. Snorkeling along the world famous, guided under water trail of Trunk Bay is a must for first timers of the island simply because of the fish. The beach here is nice but others on the island are better, but what really makes this place stand out is under water. The wide variety of fish and coral here are miraculous and are the most dense of any other beach on the island. The fish here are so used to people that they actually come up to you and swim around you as long as you don't make sudden movements. This can really be a great beach if visited when it is not too crowded.
2. Crowded beaches bring us to number two on the list, visiting months. If you are planning to travel to St. John for the first or twentieth time, I would highly recommend that you do so in the months of June, July, or August. Because these months are during the summer and are the "off" months for resorts, the island is much less crowded and prices are cheaper. But the thrill of being on a tropical beach with no one in sight is what is really makes these months special. During these months it is extremely easy to find your own slice of paradise because of the fewer crowds in the area. So although these months run a slight risk of a hurricane, the reward is much greater than the risk.
1. The number one thing to do on St. Johns during your vacation is an easy pick, relax on the beach. I
would recommend that you travel to Cinnamon Bay and find a section on the mile long white sandy
beach that is away from everyone and enjoy. Cinnamon Bay offers a fine powdery white sand that is second to none on the islands, and the water is the clearest by far. This beach offers a small facility that offers good burgers right when you walk in but after that it's just you, the tranquil turquoise water, and the sound of swaying palms above you all day long. This beach is a must see for everyone that visits the island and will be the spot the most pictures are taken on the trip.
No matter what you plan to do or what part of the island you visit there will always be something for you to do. Whether it is laying in the pool all day with the kids, eating a romantic dinner at sunset, or taking the occasional snorkel adventure in the middle of your sun tanning, St. Johns will always be a piece of tropical heaven.
