The Top 5 Coolest Teenage Witches in Television and Movie History

Rolando Cruz
In this age where vampire movies are in vogue and the supernatural is not held in dark contempt, witches in movies and television are no longer portrayed as green, haggardly or evil as they once were in movies like the Wizard of Oz. By the same token, they are seldom portrayed in the same plain vanilla light as Glenda the Witch of the North was either. No, these days it's hip to be a Wicca even at the earliest of ages (at least when it comes to television and movies), and in homage to that here is a list of the 5 coolest witches in television and movie history.

5) Louisa Miller (Robyn Lively); Teen Witch (1989):

In the film, "Teen Witch," Louisa Miller (Robyn Lively) goes from a sweet lovable nerd, to the hot popular girl in school after a lost amulet restores the magical power she enjoyed in a former life. With her new found powers Louisa gets to live out most teenage girl's dreams by getting back at her teacher and the cheerleaders who hate her, while getting the hottest guy in school to fall in love with her. 4) Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham); Vampire Dairies (2009- Present):

Being in a hot new vampire series on television certainly adds an air of cool to practitioners of the craft. An no witch is currently more in vogue than Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham), the best friend of Vampire Dairies female lead character Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). Though Bonnie is in high school and just discovering her magical roots, you can expect her character to be developed in grand fashion over the next few seasons. 3) Alex Russo (Selena Gomez); Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-Present):

With the Emmy Award winning children's program Wizards of Waverly Place, Disney picks off where shows like Sabrina have left off, making teenage witches cool again in the mode of Alex Russo as played by Selena Gomez. Alex a mixture of mischief, magic and Bohemian fashion, adds an element of laid back teen cool to old fashion witchcraft. 2) Sabrina Sawyer (Melissa Joan Hart); Sabrina, The Teenage Witch (1996-2003):

The reigning teen witch on television (based on ratings) over the span of 163 shows, Sabrina The Teenage Witch follows the life of Sabrina Sawyer from the time she discovers she is a witch on her sixteenth birthday on through early adulthood. Along the way, Sabrina manages to balance her magical responsibilities with every day tasks such as school, work and love. The series ran on both ABC and the WB over the course of its 7 seasons. 1) Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan); Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003):

Though her show never achieved the television ratings of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Willow Rosenberg's first place ranking as TV's (or movies) coolest teen witch can be attributed to Buffy the Vampire Slayers iconic place in American television history. Though she starts the series without magical powers, Willows dabbling in the occult leads her to become one of the most powerful witch in a TV series. The character which is portrayed with off-beat charm by Alyson Hannigan, brings coolness to an otherwise highly intelligent high school outcast.
