5. The Ninja. This is one of the older roller coasters in the park. It has a steel structure and is a quick ride with relatively short lines. What's different about it is that the cars are in the old wooden coaster style, but it includes some steel coaster style aspects. The ride includes some interesting features, including a gigantic corkscrew and a sharp circle that just about pulls the skin off of your face. Be sure to brace yourself though, this one can be a bit choppy and gives out some nasty headaches.
4. The Screaming Eagle. When Six Flags St. Louis opened, this ride was the park's main feature. At the time, it was one of the biggest and fastest roller coasters in the world. Now, it still sits, painted stark white, nestled in a back corner of the park. If you want a little classic theme park nostalgia, this is the ride for you. It's a little less intimidating than some of the other coasters, but is still quite a big thrill.
3. The Boss. This roller coaster was introduced to Six Flags St. Louis in 2000. It was designed as a throwback to the classic Screamin' Eagle style roller coaster, except supersized. When it opened, lines were an hour or two long all the time for almost two straight years, and for good reason. This roller coaster is mean. The initial drop is an intense experience, to say the least. I had an entire ecosystem of butterflies in my stomach by the end of this one.
2. Batman. This ride has been a staple at Six Flags St. Louis for about a decade now. It is prominently featured at the very front of the park. When walking in, the screams of those riding it are very audible. It is a steel roller coaster in which you sit in a seat with your legs dangling. There are tons of inversions, corkscrews, and feelings of zero gravity. You'll find yourself trying to catch your breath when it ends.
1. Mr. Freeze. This is definitely the most intense ride at Six Flags St. Louis. It is not for the faint of the heart. It's a metal coaster that accelerates its riders to 70 miles per hour in under four seconds. The rider is taken through a series of twists, turns, and inversions at breakneck speeds. Then, It goes straight up, reverses direction, and the rider does it all over again backwards. What's really cool is when the car is slowing down vertically, it feels completely zero gravity. Be sure to bring a change of pants.
So, if you get the chance to go to Six Flags St. Louis, do not miss out on an opportunity to enjoy these rides. They are certainly a great thrill and very memorable.
