South Africa is one of those countries where crimethe rate was very high and so was not a place for safe living. Now the situation has changed. There are quite a good number of places which are considered best for safe living.
South Africa, one of the developing countries in the world has problems similar to many other developing countries. One of the main problems is the problem of unemployment. This is because rural populations have migrated to cities in search of jobs. With unemployment comes the poverty and poverty triggers crime. Refugees from the neighboring countries like Zimbabwe and Congo has compounded the problems. With the increase in the crime rate, the next question is the safety of people living there.
But, there are five places which are safe to live in South Africa.
- Cape Town: This is a place suitable for both tourism and business. Cape Town has most beautiful scenery on earth. It is a modern city and with diverse culture. The inner city was rebuilt recently by spending lot of money on its revamping. There has been a sincere effort to make the city safe and attractive. With sincere efforts, the Government of South Africa has made Cape Town a safe place to live and to do business.
- The Garden Route: This is situated in between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth on the east cost of Africa. This place is so attractive, that it is called the 'Jewel' of the nation. The place is known for its Golf estate. This is one of most famous Golf Real Estates in the world. There are many towns en route Garden Route, which are the safest place to live and to bring up children.
- Port St.John's: This is situated on the Indian Ocean coastline. The Transkeri Wild Coast (during the apartheid period called 'Bantustan') is a beautiful place and there is no other place which can be compared with Transkeri. The place is having encouraging life style for the family. Although in terms of schools it is still to catch up with other areas, there are excellent high schools in the nearby Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth and Durban. Due to poverty, crime was an issue here. But the local community have done tremendous job to uplift the locals and now there is proper understanding between the people and the PSJ community.
- Cape St. Francis: Situated near the Port Elizabeth is a busy commercial centre. This is a good tourist centre for young and old. There are many well known schools and this is another safe place to live.
- `The West Coast: Although scarcely populated this is another place for a safe living. Yzerfonein, Churchhaven and St.Helena Bay are some of the places for a safe living.
