The Top 5 Scary Halloween Costumes for Your Tweens

To achieve scary Halloween costumes, this year's blockbuster movies have told us a lot. I bet most tweens will be indulging in their inner vampires, pirates and witches this Halloween. The Tween-agnst movie Twilight has surged to the top almost overnight and has produced many hot- and scary female and male vampires. With white makeup- blood stained faces and fangs, anyone can pull off this look. Wear all black clothes or a white sheet with holes in it. Kids can be creative with this look. Use the makeup crayons to draw on your whitened face. Tween girls can be transformed into a Gothic vampire using dark reds in makeup and clothing.

Pirates are still hot on the radar as the next best costume idea. Make them scary by adding chains, swords and bloodied makeup.

Fallen Angels are popular with tweens as well. They can be pretty and scary at the same time. You can also do a corpse angel or a corpse bride. Use darker colors, black wings, black flowers- and white/black makeup and red for blood around the eyes, or blood tears down the face. You can also get a black wig, or dye your hair black with the temporary black hair spray found in any department store around Halloween.

With Harry Potter out with a new movie, Wicked Sorcerers are on the hot list for an excellent scary costume. With using a witch hat, a long, sheared black dress and whitened makeup, teens can add mystery to this costume and be very adventurous and imaginative with their ideas on how to upgrade this look. Use gothic makeup and bloodied face makeup around the mouth. Carry around plastic/fake rats or an old rope or chain.

Zombies are always an easier way to pull off the scary look from home. Take any old clothes like plaid shirts, old jeans and sweatshirts. Put holes in them and "dirty" them up by drawing black/brown markers on them. Find an old mop and use that as a wig. You can color the "wig" or leave as is. Place leaves in the "wig" and put a bandana around the forehead to help keep it in place. Wear a shirt with skulls on it or make it more believable with a skull mask and bloodied makeup!

Developing any scary Halloween costume can be easy and fun! Let your tween take these suggestions and use some of their ideas as well.
