The Top 5 Television Talk Shows

Bridget Ilene Delaney
Talk shows are great shows to watch on television. This is often how people know about other shows, even if they don't care for them or don't watch any television other than talk shows. However, while the guests are great, it is the host and the other things that happen during the show that make them entertaining. Here are the five best talk shows on television.

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson is a fun show. Craig has an extremely unique style of humor. This talk show is not for those who are not adults, or at least those who are not used to adult themed humor. Small children should not watch the show, although some parents let them watch it. However, it is safe to show children the dance routines with the puppets.

Ellen

Ellen is a great show for all ages. She has wonderful energy. At times some adult themes are mentioned a tiny bit, but it is not likely that children will catch these small things. Instead, they will enjoy the humor, the dancing, the funny games, and the web videos shown on the show. It's also great to see Ellen help change viewers' lives.

Oprah

While Oprah is in its last season, a few new episodes can be watched and it is likely that a station will eventually air repeats of the show. There are themes that only adults should watch. There are others that any age can watch. These need to be decided by parents. Oprah has always given things to her audience and helped changed peoples' lives. It is great to see these episodes.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

Some people are angry with Leno because of the whole Conan O'Brien thing. However, if the video of Leno announcing that Conan O'Brien would take over The Tonight Show in 2009, it can be gleaned that it wasn't Leno's idea because at first he agreed to renew the show and then the NBC executives came later and changed the idea and said "We don't want to lose Conan." Leno, while the jokes and routines are getting stale, is still a great host and he makes the show enjoyable while not making fun of religions. He doesn't rely on childish shticks to make the show work.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon isn't a great show, but it ranks in the top five. Jimmy Fallon doesn't have great comedic timing and is rarely funny. It seems he or his writers steal jokes from Leno and only once or twice a week or once or twice a month have an original joke. However, Jimmy Fallon seems like a nice person and he has a great band, The Roots. The games that he plays with the audience are often stupid, but every once in a while, they are cute games and are enjoyable to watch.
