The Top 5 Websites for Harry Potter Fans

Harry Potter on the Web

Lucky M Diaz
This Summer the Harry Potter saga continues with a new book, video game and movie. According to the official movie Website by Warner Bros, the new movie: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is set to be released in American theaters on July 11th 2007. The movie will premier in Hollywood, California at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre on July 8th 2007. The actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are scheduled to participate in a hand, foot, and wand ceremony the following day(July 9th at 11:30a.m.) at the same theater.

The young stars will leave their impressions in concrete the same way so many other famous actors and actresses have in Hollywood History. Harry Potter fans around the world are counting down until they can don their costumes or wizard attire and venture out to the theaters to see their favorite heroes in action again, or stand in line at their local bookstore to grab a copy of the latest book. A large number of Harry Potter fans have been reading the J.K. Rowling series for years and are more interested in the release of the newest books. However, new fans who have been introduced to the series through the movies produced by Warner Bros are ecstatic about the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Most, if not all, of these fans who are computer savvy are already members or frequent visitors of one and/or many Harry Potter fan Websites. For fans of the movies, the books, or both, the World Wide Web is home for several fan Websites. These Websites are places where Harry Potter fans can unite to chat, post blogs, play games or see what is happening in the news with the actors from the movies. I have spent countless hours searching the Web and have come up with what I think are the Top 5 Websites for Harry Potter fans.

Join Dumbledore's Army.com
http://joindumbledoresarmy.warnerbros.com/
This site includes a list of the characters in the new movie who are members of the "Dumbledore's Army." These characters include Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermoine Granger, Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Fred and George Weasley. This site also allows fans to become "New Recruits" in Dumbledore's Army, where they can create user profiles, comment on characters, books, movies, and play games. There is a message board where fans can also "send a message to Dumbledore's Army." The graphics are excellent.

MuggleNet
http://www.mugglenet.com/
This site contains pictures of the characters, actors, news about the actors, movies and books, interviews, trivia, forums, downloads and much more. There are also member blogs and art that are interesting and fun to look at. The graphics on this home page are beautiful and entertaining.

The Leaky Cauldron.org
http://www.theleaky-cauldron.org/
This site contains book and movie news, actor interviews, reviews, contests, member blogs, essays and much more. There are also forums, chat rooms and art. The graphics for this site are not so entertaining, the home page is set up to look more professional rather than eye-catching.

Dark Mark.com
http://www.darkmark.com/c.c?I=home
This site contains Harry Potter Headline News, reviews, articles, forum and photo gallery and much more. Most of the fans on this site seem to be interested in Harry Potter's dark encounter with the evil Dark Lord who has "the name which thou shall not speak."

Veritaserum.com
http://www.veritaserum.com
This site contains information about the books and movies, articles, videos, forums, photos, member blogs and much more. The graphics created for this home page are beautiful and eye-catching.

All of these sites, with the exception of Join Dumbledore's Army.com, contain an option where you can buy an advertisement space on their home page, as well as a clock or calender that counts down the hours and days until the new movie and books will be released to the public. I encourage all Harry Potter fans and all those who are interested in learning more about Harry Potter fans to visit and/or join these Websites; they contain a plethora of information pertaining to all things Harry Potter. I enjoyed visiting them and think that you will also.
