The holiday season is upon us again. It's a great time to live in Anaheim, California. You don't have to deal with shoveling snow. There are many holiday light displays in your area, too. I have compiled a list of the top 7 holiday lighting displays in and around Anaheim, California:

1-The Holiday Magic tree Lighting Ceremony- The ceremony takes place in Anaheim's Twila Red Park and features entertainment, a bonfire, tree lighting ceremony, and goodies for children. Free to the public and begins at 6pm on December 2, 2008.

2- Holiday Village and Christmas Tree Lighting- Bring the whole family because this event features entertainment, special guests, rides for children, food, and Mickey Mouse lighting the Christmas tree. Takes place on December 3rd from 3-7pm in the Center Street Promenade. Fun for the whole family and free!

3-The Sugar Plum tree Lighting Ceremony-This tree lighting ceremony on December 10th at John Marshall Park. At 5pm. Features entertainment, special guests, bonfire and food. Fun for the whole family and free to the public.

4- Glory of Christmas at Cathedral in Garden Grove- Come join the celebration of the origin of the holidays. Features live nativity scene, live animals, special effects, flying angels, music from the London Symphony Orchestra.

5-Knotts Berry Farm - Features a "Spirit of Season" Parade, enormous Christmas tree, Christmas crafts village, and ice show with peanuts and family, the shows "the Christmas Carol", "winter Wonderland", and "Gift of the Magi". Weekday admission has a special reduced rate for the Christmas crafts village only. Times of operation: 11/22-11/25, 12/2-12/7, 12/9, 12/14-12/24, and 12/26-12/31. 6-Oak Canyon Nature Center- The nature center transforms itself into a Winter Wonderland featuring live music, by Get Reel, Dancing, arts and crafts, holiday storytelling and numerous holiday lighting displays. Come enjoy this Winter Wonderland display on the evening of December 17, 2007

7-Tree Lighting Ceremony of Costa Mesa- Features a 90foot Tree adorned with over 15,000 lights, and numerous lit holiday scenes. Located 22 minutes south of Anaheim, reachable by taking Interstate 5 to South 55.

If you feel like driving to Los Angeles they have a wonderful lighting festival. Los Angeles is only about 35 minutes North West of Anaheim reachable by Interstate 5. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Light Festival at Griffith Park. This year they are demonstrating how to go green this winter by using only LED lights. It features 1 mile of twinkling lights through which you can either drive or walk. Visit this light show from 11/21 to 12/30 and it will be lit from 5pm-10pm every night.     I have attended a few of these in the past. I know that Knott's always has lovely lights. Even their craft faire is a great holiday experience. Thanks for the info.
