The Top 7 Paranormal & Ghost Shows You MUST Tune in For!

Ashley Qualls
Nowadays, there are plenty of channels to fill with all of our interests. Of course, we can never get enough of the paranormal and afterlife. Check out some of the top ghost hunting and paranormal shows on these days below.

Psychic Kids: The Children of the Paranormal
When it's on: Various days on A&E (check your local listings for specific times)
Why it's spooky: Children seeing ghosts and explaining them should be enough to freak anyone out. Whether you're a skeptic or full-blow believer, you should at least tune in for an episode of Psychic Kids. The show is based on children who are obviously having paranormal experiences, from ghosts to so-called demons. Oh, and if you're home alone, keep a light on. The experienced ghost hunters love to push these kids to their limits. It's pretty frightening sometimes! The kids also find others whom they relate with, which is a nice change of pace from the typical person who has just witnessed a paranormal event. It's refreshing to see the children talking so maturely about a subject they aren't really old enough to fully grasp.

Ghost Hunters: TAPS

When it's on: Wednesdays on SyFy (check your listings for times)
Why it's spooky: TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) have been around for years. They have recently reached their 100th episode on SyFy. The team uses a ton of technology and updated gadgets & they're very dedicated. They're also not afraid of approaching negative energies, which can leave for some crazy suspense.

Ghost Adventures
When it's on: Fridays at 9PM EST.
Why it's spooky: Ghost Adventures is a trio of guys who love reminiscing in the ghosts stories and pasts. The three men hold lock-ins (or lock downs) from dusk until dawn in search of their long-awaited meeting with these spirits. They aren't afraid to take on dark hallways and pitch black rooms, even if one of them are alone which makes the majority of us look extremely weak. Not for the easily scared!

Paranormal State
When it's on: Various days on A&E (check your listings for specific times)
Why it's spooky: The stories are generally darker than your average paranormal show on TV. Paranormal State has been around since 2001, founded by Ryan Buell (who does most of the explorations himself). The stories often consist of horrific accidents and claims of being possessed or seeing 'demons'. The narration and sound effects can get a bit cheesy, but it's a creepy show if you're up alone at 4AM.

Celebrity Ghost Stories
When it's on: Running various times on the Biography channel
Why it's spooky: We all have a certain thought of celebrities in our own minds, that is, until we hear their ghostly encounter stories! Hearing someone you've always looked up to (and thought of as credible people) explain their experiences is beyond creepy, yet frighteningly addicting. It's probably so spooky because we are seeing people we generally feel as if we already 'know' tell us what just happened to them. Who's to say they aren't telling the truth?

Ghostly Encounters
When it's on: Re-runs on VIVA/Biography until this fall
Why it's spooky: It's real. Well, of course they want you to think that all of the paranormal shows are in fact real, and let's hope they are. This one's a bit different. The guests (regular people like you & me) tell their own stories and share their own ghost experiences. It's a different feel other than the one story every half hour deal you get with most other shows. It's just creepy to see so many people with so many different perspectives uniting about one subject. Check it out.

Most Haunted
When it's on: Various times on Living TV
Why it's spooky: While this show can sometimes feel a bit over the top with its screaming hosts and eccentric characters, it can also be an enjoyable watch as well. The crew locks themselves up in a location for 24 hours, only to have an adventure in exploring old haunted buildings, castles, and wherever else they can stay overnight. The majority of this shows spookiness comes from the locations themselves. Seeing old abandoned hospitals and castles is enough to make anyone jumpy in the middle of the night.
