The year 2010 had me busier than usual in other realms of entertainment and so video games did not get as much of my attention. Also, there was a lack in titles that appealed to me in a "must play" way. I played most of the blockbuster games of the year, but many of them were not my cup of tea. For example: "Red Dead Redemption," I hated it. I was going to do a top ten list of the best PS3 games from 2010, due to the PS3 being my console of choice, but I could not find ten that really did it for me from the releases of the year. So, here is a top 8 list of the best PS3 video games from 2010.
8. "Dante's Inferno": The gameplay in "Dante's Inferno" is basic hack n slash, but I enjoy delving into such games from time to time. I really enjoyed the environments and overall tone of the game, one doesn't get to travel through Hell often enough! "Dante's Inferno" was dark, creative, and filled to the brim with violent sorrow and choices to be made that might lead to salvation or damnation. I think I might have been too forgiving of most sinners in the game, but I enjoyed playing God in those moments. The weak point of Dante's Inferno for me was the puzzles. I liked the mindless hack n slash, but got stuck on a couple of the puzzles to the point of frustration.
7. "Fallout: New Vegas": This game was just as good as Fallout 3, but because it was basically the same game I gave myself headaches mindless roaming the world and collecting junk out of boxes, ect. This game would be higher on my list if I had been able to finish it, but glitches prevented me from doing so. The game would freeze and I could never get beyond a certain spot due to that and thus had to give up
6. "Sonic & Sega All Star Racing": A simple cart-style racing game that was a nice change of pace. The tracks were very colorful eye candy and I was happy to be playing with Sonic characters and others from my days of being a Sega Genesis and then a Dreamcast fan.
5. "Call Of Duty: Black Ops": This makes the list only because it helped me pass a lot of time shooting things up online. FPS games are my favorite genre, but I have plenty of negative things to say about "Call Of Duty: Black Ops." The single player campaign is not worth finishing with the gameplay being the same old boring crap and the storytelling just as horrible as all of the other ones; nothing original. The online maps with the initial release of the game were not varied enough, all being quite small arenas with no real use for the sniper rifles. Then what droive me away from the game was the price of the add-on maps being too high and X-Box 360 users getting to have them a month ahead of PS3 users. I felt slighted by the company and sold my game.
4. "Split Second": This racing game has you trying to avoid exploding obstacles around the track, while trigger explosions to take out your competition. This game was high octane fun and felt like you were driving around in a Jerry Bruckheimer movie. The only downside was that the control scheme hurt my fingers and was a wear on the controller triggers.
3. "Army of 2: The 40th Day": This third person shooting game would have been better with out the cooperation with your teammate gimmick that drives it. However, I still had fun with the game regardless of my computer controlled helper being a complete moron. The game is not as pretty as some, but the action stayed fast paced and I enjoyed the moments in the game where the path of your character relies on decision making. The cut scene comic stories that reward you or punish you for your decision were cool.
2. "Bioshock 2": This game did not reach the same epic level as the original, but it was a strong sequel that gave me many hours of gameplay as I battled it out in the underwater city locations.
1. "Battlefield Bad Company 2": I cannot fathom why anyone would choose a "Call Of Duty" game over a "Battlefield" game. This FPS shooter amazed me with the destructible environments and well crafted maps for firefights. This is a game where 'Ëœwho, did that just happen" moments occur almost daily as you play around with the different weapons and explosives and their impacts on the environments and vehicles. I really enjoy strapping C4 on to vehicles and then rolling them into the enemy camps, and spying to watch an opponent hop on to my discarded ride, only to have their fun cut short when I detonate the explosives. Also, taking down a building filled with opponents is also extremely satisfying .

Post a CommentYOU DIDN'T LIKE RED DEAD REDEMPTION????? Anyway, I played Split Second a few times, and in some ways it's better than Blur. Haven't played many others on your list though.
