The Top Bars to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is quickly approaching and is on a Friday this year. Normally, just the day itself would result in massive festivities and, at least, massive hangovers the next day because we all know that the drinking that goes on is enough to drown a fish. But this year, what with the holiday falling on a Friday, more people are likely to go out and indulge a little because they can nurse their hangover the next day. I thought that I would share my recommendations for the best watering holes for Cinco de Mayo in the Nashua area.

La Carreta - is located on Daniel Webster Highway in South Nashua. This particular part of Nashua is the strip on the Massachusetts/ New Hampshire border where many of the chain stores are located, as is the Pheasant Lane Mall. Located at 139 Daniel Webster highway in Nashua, La Carreta is neat, clean and fresh. The tortilla chips are warm and the salsa is made on premises (and obviously is not from a jar!). The waitstaff is attentive and the kitchen is FAST! They serve typical fare along with some dishes that utilize fish. And the drinks are to die for!!!

Margarita's - located on Nashua Drive in Downtown Nashua, next to Dunkin' Donuts. Margarita's is a chain restaurant, so do not expect marvels. The food is average Tex-Mex. The service is also average - on some nights it is fast and on some nights it is slow. The location is amazing. It is in the downtown area and within walking distance of parking and other bars. The building itself is an old mill building. It has three floors and a large basement area. The building is therefore magnificently equipped to deal with large groups. However, if you're planning on quick service, i would not recommend it because of how inconsistent the service it. The food is moderately priced and the drinks are great - they have lots of wonderful specials and, duh, margaritas.

Tacos Colima is located at 101 Factory Street in downtown Nashua. It is literally "on the oval," nestled in between the Clocktower Apartment complex and the Nashua District Courthouse. The staff is friendly and makes authentic Mexican food right in front of you - it's made to order literally - and they are courteous and FAST. They have limited alcohol servings - beer and margaritas - but the food completely makes it worth it. Some of the best food in Southern New Hampshire.

Cinco de Mayo is a wonderful time to enjoy good food and good beverages with your friends and family at your favorite local establishment. Please do so responsibly.
