5. Sherman field in Lincoln is a beautiful ballpark with old style charm. The field is well maintained and has very well proportioned fence dimensions. What was once a minor league ballpark is now home to many high school games and various tournaments. The stadium includes a covered bleacher section behind home plate and the railroad tracks just past the left field wall always make it exciting when the trains come through.
4. Schuyler Nebraska is home to two main attractions, the meat packing plant and Merchant Field. Schuyler Nebraska is a small farm town that prides itself in its local communication, meaning that everyone knows everyone. The town also takes a large amount of pride in its baseball field that is home to the high school. The field brings its old school charm for having the lights inside the fences and are actually in foul territory but still in play. The stadium is light blue covered bleachers that wrap around almost to the first and third bases.
3. Hastings Nebraska boasts one of the most famous fields in the Midwest just for the dimensions of the park. The field itself is in very nice condition and the surrounding grandstands are also a benefit. But what really draws attention is the deep fences that are a pitchers dream. The field is actually so big they have a list of the players who hit homeruns on it. In over seventy years of existence, only about 120 players have managed to conquer the feat, which means and average of less than two home runs a year.
2. Haymarket Park in Lincoln is home to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Lincoln Saltdogs minor league organization and is one of the most manicured fields around. The quality of the field is so good that they actually include underground heaters that can warm up the field and melt snow. The surrounding Grandstand is second to none for college ball and the team facilities are top of the line. This park can make for a great family afternoon and is an excellent field to play on.
1. The top field on the list is often played on by the Creighton Bluejays but is most popular for it's hosting of the College World Series, Rosenblatt Stadium. This stadium is so large now that it can seat over twenty thousand people and often does so when the College World Series is in town or if Creighton University host Nebraska. The field is maintained at a top of the line status with a full time grounds crew and every team that plays there compliments its quality. This field is special for everyone that plays on it but it is also a treat for anyone that watches a game there because of its history.
Nebraska is home to some of the most history rich baseball traditions in America but still possesses top quality fields. So no matter if you're playing in the game or watching from the stands, the rich flavor of Nebraska baseball will always live in your memories.
