The Top Celebrity Mishaps of 2007: September

Several celebrities offended large segments of the population in September 2007. Jerry Lewis used a gay slur on live television. Kathy Griffin made fun of Jesus and Barry Manilow considered conservatives dangerous people. But all is not lost in Hollywood, there still were DUIs and fist fights and even an armed robbery.

The Top Celebrity Mishaps of 2007: September:

Andy Dick

Ending a full week of mishaps, Andy Dick was arrested for urinating in public. Columbus, Ohio police charged Andy Dick with urinating on pavement and he was fined $126.00, plus court costs.

Earlier in the week, he was warned by Los Angeles police to stop making noise and throwing beer bottles into his neighbor's garden. He was also involved in an incident involving a fight with paparazzi.

Jerry Lewis

During his annual Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, Jerry Lewis referred to a family member by using an anti-gay slur. The telethon was three-quarters complete when he uttered this slur. He publicly apologized and asked that the cause he was raising money for not be lost because he made an error in judgment.

Kathy Griffin

Comedian and star of My Life on the D-List, Kathy Griffin caused an uproar when she made her Emmy acceptance speech. She joked about how celebrities thank Jesus for their success and winning and she stated that Jesus had less to do with her winning the award than anyone else possibly could. It was in typical Griffin fashion and she has refused to apologize.

Barry Manilow

Inciting conservative Americans, Barry Manilow pulled out of his appearance on the television show The View because he claimed that Elisabeth Hasselbeck's conservative views were dangerous and offensive. He demanded that producers allow him to be interviewed by the other co-hosts of the show, but not Hasselbeck. The View producers refused to do so and Manilow backed out of his appearance. Since then, he has been hounded by questions surrounding this incident, taking away from his promotion of his new album.

Kiefer Sutherland

24 Star Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Hollywood. He was heading home after a Fox network party when he was pulled over for making an illegal U-turn. His breath test showed him at twice the legal limit. He was released on a $25,000.00 bail.

Kid Rock

Kid Rock was thrown out of the MTV Video Music Awards after he punched Tommy Lee. Rock just walked up to Lee and punched him out of the blue. The two then grabbed each other and began fighting. Las Vegas police charged him with misdemeanor battery later that night for the attack.

Britney Spears

Following a horrible comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears once again flashed her private parts while getting into a vehicle after a post-show party.

O. J. Simpson

Originally known for his football career, former double murder suspect O. J. Simpson was allegedly involved in a Las Vegas hotel break-in and kidnapping. Sports memorabilia was stolen by gunpoint from one of the Palace Station Casino suites. Simpson claims the memorabilia belonged to him and that he did not break in. He says the items were in a storage locker that was owned by his late mother. The victim claims that Simpson and his group entered his room posing as memorabilia buyers and then pulled out guns and directed him to pack everything up.

Simpson was later arrested and charged with two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary with a firearm.
