1. The first week of May is dedicated as the Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers work endless to educate our youth and work for low wages for the love of their job. While teachers should be appreciated all year round, this week is one to be sure to send your kid in to school with a gift for a teacher to just say thanks for everything they do.
2. Cinco De Mayo has to make the list not for any real importance but that it gives everyone a good reason to unplug from their work and strain of living conditions and just have some fun. One day of fun can do a good deal for the soul and so be sure to mark May 5th if you haven't already as a day to detach and enjoy a Corona.
3. The second Sunday of each May is Mother's Day. A day to just say thanks to the moms out there who sacrifice and endure a great deal to make sure their offspring advance further then they did. Be sure to send a card or make a phone call to just say hello and thank you.
4. The month of May is Asthma and Allergy awareness month. Many children and adults suffer from asthma and allergies especially in the early months of the summer where pollen and other factors are out in the air which makes breathing much more difficult. Be sure to support and foundations or fundraisers during the month to get Asthma and Allergy awareness the attention it deserves.
5. The biggest holiday many of you will enjoy in May is that of Memorial Day. This comes with usually a day off from work and a good time to strike up the barbeque. Officially it is May 30th and generally celebrated the last Monday of May. Be sure to spend at least some part of the day remembering why you have the day off from work and those who sacrificed in the past to get us here.
There are many other holidays in May ranging from Blueberry Cheesecake day to Victoria Day in Canada. There are many reasons to celebrate random events if you are looking for a reason or a weekend to have a party, just do a quick search and you will be able to find a theme for it pretty easily in May.
