Kind of a sleeper at the box office--maybe because the premise sounds a bit looney--but is one of the most amazing films I have ever seen, if not the most amazing. The story follows a group of scientists and astronauts trying to restart the dying sun. Attached to their space ship is a nuclear bomb the size of Manhattan, which they plan on exploding at the center of the sun. What follows is a film that transcends the Sci-fi genre. The focus is on dedication to humanity, the colors and sounds are breath taking, and the acting superb--and the soundtrack will take you away.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
This film takes a real look into relationships -- and seems to be very true. All relationships have their rough spots, even their slopes into hell, but this film shows that under the surface -- you truly love the person. The style is confusing at times, but magical -- part of the entire experience.
Jurassic Park
This was really the first movie to completely remove me from reality -- its that good. However, the movie extends beyond the thrills and chills of dinosaurs stalking people. The direction, the acting, the graphics, the writing, and the overall composition make it a piece of timeless art.
Glory
The story about the first African-American regiment in the civil war. I've seen it several times, but it stays just as fresh. Glory was the first movie to actually show me history in such away to make me want to learn.
Fight Club
I watched this movie late at night while doing homework. When the credits started rolling, I stopped it and watched it again. The movie is more than the fighting--it is social satire and commentary at its best. Though it has some problems with its philosophy (I'll probably discuss more about this later), the moral rings true. We should not be such a part of the social structure of society that we are not individuals. Life is more than that. The film is definitely worth the view, and maybe two.

Post a CommentHmmm...interesting picks. I might accept Jurassic Park. The others, I would not put them on such a list. But, good reasons on your part.
