The Top Four Budget Friendly Restaurants in Westland, Michigan

R. J. Gardiner
If there is one thing that Westland is known for besides the Westland Mall, it is its restaurants. There is a boatload of them, ranging from the ultra-cheap to the moderately expensive. As far as budget friendly restaurants, Westland has a few gems worth checking out. Here are my four favorites:

4) Leo's Coney Island. Located at 36595 Warren Avenue, Leo's is just a little ways from the mall. You will find all the standard Coney Island fare here, such as chili dogs, as well as many Greek options. Their entrees range from between $4 to $8 and always come with plenty of food. They also have some great breakfast specials under $4, and there is a children's menu that contains offerings for the kids for around $4 to $5. Everything here is good, and if you want to make an event of your visit, be sure to order the Saganaki cheese, which they light on fire at your table while yelling "Opa!"

3) Casa Fiesta. Located at 7667 N. Wayne Road, Casa Fiesta is actually in the mall parking lot. They serve lunch specials Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on Saturday from noon to 2:30 p.m. These lunch specials are an excellent value and cost around $6. Even if you miss lunch, their dinner combos are also very reasonable. Each one is priced at $8.95 at comes with three items. My favorite item here is the chile relleno, which is a pepper stuffed with cheese and mashed potatoes. There is also a kid's menu for children under 12, with each entrée costing $4.75. If you're in the mood for Mexican, check out Casa Fiesta.

2) East Ocean Chinese Restaurant. Located at 8601 N. Wayne Road is, in my opinion, the best Chinese restaurant in Westland. It is small, cozy, and has some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. They have a lunch combo menu that includes white or fried rice, and egg roll, and soup. These range in price from around $5 to $6. All of their entrees are superb, but I would personally recommend their General Tsao's chicken. It is fried chicken in a spicy sesame sauce with vegetables. This is a great place to fill up at for extremely reasonable prices.

1) Big Boy. Big Boy restaurants are a Michigan tradition, and are a must visit for anybody who wants to sample a reasonably priced 'Michigany' restaurant. Located at 6360 N. Wayne Road, Big Boy serves all-American fare such as burgers, fish, chicken, and hearty breakfasts(which they serve all day). During breakfast hours they have an all-you-can-eat breakfast bar loaded with all your favorites. They also offer an impressive salad bar for lunch or dinner. Their food costs around $4 to $9 and is always delicious. They also offer an impressive dessert menu, which contains my favorite item, the strawberry shake. Made with real ice cream, strawberries, and whipped cream, this shake is an excellent way to finish off a great meal.

You don't need much money to avoid starvation in Westland. Surprise your family by taking them to one of these budget friendly restaurants this week!
