The Top Four Family Activities in NE Atlanta

If are visiting family and friends in the North East Suburbs of Atlanta, there are some wonderful things you can do to make the trip enjoyable for your kids without ever going into the city. Here are my Top three activities for Kids in North-east Atlanta.

Laser Quest in Duluth GA www.laserquest.com is a great family activity. It is located at3650 Satellite Blvd in Duluth, GA. It is pretty well hidden. You will need to park in the lot near the post office. It tucked away in the corner behind the All Day Tuesday store. It may look small from the outside but once you get inside you will be amazed.

Kids never seem to get enough of laser quest. Adults are often willing to play just one more game as well. Playing Laser Quest is a lot like playing hide and seek with (fake) artillery. The equipment is high tech and sophisticated, the music gets you pumped up, and the configuration and design of the arena keeps the game exciting and challenging.

While I am recommending laser quest for kids, you may want to try going there without the children as well. Laserquest is an excellent venue of bonding, male or females and is well known for their corporate teambuilding programs.

5900 Sugarloaf Parkway, in Lawrenceville, GA has an amazing arcade, restaurant, and bowling alley. Marketed as "One Place… A Thousand Possibilities", their tag line says it all. You will find Jillian's in the entertainment section of Discover Mills, in between the Movie Theater Complex and the skate park, which are also great fun.

Stone Mountain Park at U.S. Highway 78 East, Exit 8 is a great place for a family adventure. You might want to spend several days there. Stone Mountain can be tricky to get to, so be sure to follow the directions found at this link: Driving directions: http://www.stonemountainpark.com/maps-directions/driving-directions.aspx . Trust me; print the directions, my satellite directional system always goes haywire when I get near Stone Mountain Park. Once I have gotten there, however, the stress of getting there is quickly forgotten.

Stone Mountain Park has more opportunities for fun than can possibly be accomplished in one day. I personally have been exhausted after playing in the big red barn, climbing the mountain, and then seeing the 3D movie. Other activities include, an outdoor playground, a watermark, a sky ride to the top of the mountain (which I usually take after climbing to the top), a riverboat, several sight seeing tours, and the laser light show, which is a great way to end the day. (Bring a blanket or stadium chair to sit on).

All of the places I have mentioned so far can be costly, though in my opinion, it is well worth the fun. However, I wanted to add one more venue, (or series of venues) where you can have great fun with your kids and not spend a single scent, unless you want to. The Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau list tons or free and low cost event you can do with your children, family, and friends. For example, this month, September 2006, you can enjoy the Moonlight and Music concert series, on the Historic City Hall Lawn in Downtown Lawrenceville, or in downtown Lilburn. You can view a movie at Flicks on the Bricks in Downtown Duluth, Braselton City Park. There are also several festivals you can attend for just the price of food, parking and goodies you may want to buy.
