With its rural roadways, rolling eucalyptus-covered hills, open fields, green pastures and citrus groves, Rancho Santa Fe makes for a great setting to ride horses. There are three sub-communities that are zoned for horses including Fairbanks Ranch, Rancho Santa Fe Covenant, and South Pointe Farms.
In addition to the housing areas zoned for horses, there are some excellent horse facilities available in Rancho Santa Fe. Here is a list of the top horse facilities in and around the area:
16924 Rambla de Las Flores | Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067 | 858-756-2923
The Rancho Riding Club was founded in 1946 and is a top horse facility located within the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant. Spread over 11 acres of land, the Riding Club offers plenty of room for riding. This private equestrian facility features three rings, 60 inside stalls, multiple turnouts and crossties, hot water wash racks, and a 6-horse free flow exerciser. The staff provides daily ring and stall maintenance. The Club also has a few horse trainers who give lessons to both children and adults in riding and horsemanship.
2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd | Del Mar, CA 92014 | 858-755-1141
Every horse racing fan probably knows about the world-class Del Mar racetrack ("Where the Turf Meets the Surf"!) which is located just minutes from Rancho Santa Fe. The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is located at the Del Mar race track and is home to the 65-acre Del Mar Horse Park. This horse facility offers horse trainers and owners a place to show and stable their horses. The horse park also plays host to the annual Del Mar National Horse Show.

The San Diego Polo Club was originally established in 1986 as the Rancho Santa Fe Polo Club and has one of the longest playing seasons in the country. Every Sunday from May through October, the public is invited to watch polo matches. The Polo Club has various membership opportunities available and features a year-round outdoor lighted arena, riding trails, an exercise track, and a clubhouse. The club also offers programs including introductory lessons for beginning riders.
