The Top NASCAR Speedway Tracks

Information on Daytona, Talladega, Indianapolis, Martinsville and Homestead Miami

Every NASCAR driver fan has their favorite Speedway. I have chosen 5 tracks that I consider to be the most important in the NASCAR schedule. It was hard to narrow down a list because honestly all NASCAR tracks are great.

1. Daytona International Speedway
The Daytona 500, "The great American race", considered to be one of the most important NASCAR races is held at Daytona International Speedway. The Daytona 500 officially marks the start of the NASCAR season every February. Another race is held here around 4th of July every year. The Daytona Speedway is 2.5 miles in length. The size of the Daytona track requires the use of restictor plates. Restrictor plates limit the car's ability to accelerate also, it limits the top speed that can be achieved. NASCAR fans can camp at Daytona International Speedway in RV's or tents. Tailgating is also a big part of the Dayton NASCAR experience. While at the Speedway, NASCAR fans can enjoy "The Daytona 500 Experience" which includes a 3D IMAX movie and the Daytona 500 winning car. The Daytona 500 Experience is open year round with the exception of Christmas day. Daytona International Speedway is located in Daytona, Florida. You can visit the official Daytona International Speedway website here

2. Talladega Superspeedway
Talladega is the biggest of any NASCAR track. Many NASCAR fans also believe Talladega is the best speedway to in all of NASCAR. Traditionally two NASCAR races are held at Talladega each year. The track is so large, 2.6 miles, the drivers are able to go so fast, NASCAR requires the use of restrictor plates here. Talladega can accommodate over 145,000 fans at each race.Talladega is located in Talladega, Alabama. You can visit the official Talladega website here

3. Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, also called the Brickyard is home to NASCAR racing, Indy racing, Formula one racing as well as stock car racing.
The NASCAR Indianapolis race is held at the end of July each year. When a NASCAR driver wins, the entire team kisses the bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. NASCAR fans love the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for it's rich racing history. In 2008 Jimmie Johnson won the Brickyard 400. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a rectangular track that is 2.5 miles in length. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. You can visit the official Indianapolis Speedway website here

4. Martinsville Speedway
Martinsville Speedway is 526 feet in length making it the shortest NASCAR track. NASCAR fans love the Martinsville race because of the frequent lead changes and bumper taps. NASCAR drivers tend to get very aggressive here and if you blink you may miss something. Each year two NASCAR Sprint cup races are held a Martinsville Speedway. Martinsville Speedway is located in Ridgeway, Virgina. You can visit the offical Martinsville Speedway website here

5. Homestead Miami Speedway
The Homestead Miami Speedway is home to only one NASCAR race each year. The race at Homestead Miami is the very last race in the NASCAR season and the Sprint Cup Champion is chosen here. The Homestead Miami Speedway is a oval track that is 1.5 miles in length. Watching a race at Homestead Miami Speedway is exciting, not only do you get to see the race winner take the stage but also the Nextel Cup Champion crowned as well. Homestead Miami Speedway is located in Homestead, Florida. Jimmie Johnson won the Sprint Cup championship here in 2006, 2007 and 2008. You can visit the official Homestead Miami Speedway website here

Most NASCAR tracks also have stockcar racing throughout the year available
