The Top Reason Why Diets Fail

Ritu Lalit
Obesity is a modern day problem, and there are millions of people who are trying to overcome it in the modern world. There are hundreds of diet plans and people are spending time, effort and money to try out various diets to lose some weight. There are a lucky few that succeed but not everyone is fortunate. I hear so many people moaning that they haven't lost weight, or the loss is so slow. Ever wonder why? The reason for this is that we are focusing on the wrong thing. We focus on losing weight - just that. We ignore our body's needs. The trick is to provide the body what it needs to help it lose weight. Naturally our body feels deprived and rebels, and after a few years, we regain whatever we had lost .... , and then some more!

The reason is plain. Our brain has neurotransmitters that control our appetite. They make us crave for certain foods, causing us to eat excessive quantities of these foods. It is very difficult to control these urges. We have to understand and balance these neurotransmitters to conquer these urges. This can only be done by eating the right kind of foods. It we do this the right way; we can actually stick to our diet plan and not get stressed and quit. This also helps dieters to resist regaining the pounds.

The trick, as I have said earlier, is to balance the neurotransmitters in the brain. For this, we have to eat certain foods for e.g. cheese, milk and other dairy products, which we normally avoid when on a diet. Avoiding these foods creates an imbalance, and the neurotransmitters kick in, and create a craving. While dieting we can not eat these foods so we have to find alternative sources, so as to balance the chemical reaction in our brains so, to prevent overeating, substitute these foods with, like amino acids, which help prevent overeating.

Amino acids are building blocks of protein and everybody has to ensure that sufficient amount of amino acids are consumed, especially people on a diet. The amino acids that help to lose weight are:

L-Carnitine:

It helps to lose weight by its ability to transport fatty acids and prevent fatty build up.

L-Arginine and L-Ornithine:

Increases the growth of muscle mass and decreases body fat.

L-Tyrosine:

Produces noreoinephrine, which is a neurotransmitter that suppresses appetite.

L-Glutamine:

This amino acid is abundant in the muscle tissue and it helps to increase the muscle mass.

L-Phenylalanine:

It produces neurotransmitters and helps in suppressing appetite.

These amino acids along with vitamins and minerals provide your body with sufficient nutrients, which the body lacks because of improper diet. The supply of required nutrients to the brain balances the neurotransmitters and stops you from overeating, helping you to lose weight and maintain it.
