Most computer users might not fully appreciate the netbook. The netbooks first hit the consumer markets back in 2007. The netbook's small size made it necessary to omit the optical drive, but this did not seem to deter its instant popularity. Those who would like more storage usually purchase a USB flash drive. And those who would like to watch movies on the netbook can easily add an external DVD drive later on. Since then, the netbook has gained a growing number of regular users. Here are a few reasons that might change many more into a net book user.
Netbooks Are Small
One important feature that netbook users find very attractive is that the netbook is much smaller than your basic everyday laptop or notebook. The screen is typically in the 8 to10 inch range. This is good for general viewing and the micro size netbook takes up very little space on a desk, counter top. It is very easy to tuck it inside a regular tote or carry on bag.
Exceptional Computing Power
The netbook uses the Atom microprocessor which is powerful enough to handle light computer tasks like reading, sending email, word processing, surfing the web, watching video's, playing games. This is great news for the casual computer user who certainly does not need a more powerful processor or computer.
Weighs Less
Commuters who carry a laptop around know how heavy it seems after awhile. Those same commuters might like the ease and light weight convenience of the netbook. The average netbook weighs in at a weight of three pounds or less.
Less Expensive
The price for the netbooks produced by Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Asus, HP, is dropping and are much less expensive than a laptop or notebook. The smaller and less expensive netbooks are now packaged with Windows 7 starter which is a good deal. Until recently, netbooks were packaged with Windows XP.
Wifi
Just because the netbook is small doesn't mean they skimped on a lot of features that are bundled with the basic laptop. The small and very light weight netbooks provide instant mobile access to the Internet while on the go or at home with That's right. The netbook also has Wifi. Simply find a hotspot and you are good to go. All at a very reasonable and very affordable price for the average consumer.
