Minneapolis is usually considered the city of choice for spending a night out on the town. Most people snub St. Paul, calling it the boring half of the twin cities. But downtown St. Paul is not lacking in entertainment, and in many ways, may be a preferable place to party on the weekends. After all, St. Paul is known for being a much safer city than Minneapolis. And if you're into a more laid-back scene, you will prefer hanging out at St. Paul bars. The following three St. Paul bars are excellent venues for those who are looking for a good time.

1. Alary's Bar

With crowds of young singles and scantily clad staff, Alary's Bar may not be family friendly, but it is a great place to hang out if you're low on cash. Guests get free indoor parking next door. Alary's offers a huge selection of tap beers, as well as free popcorn and delicious pizzas. In addition to feasting on beer, popcorn and pizza, guests can play pinball, darts, pool, bubble hockey and even beer pong! Alary's is also the perfect downtown St. Paul bar for sports fans, who watch Vikings and Wild games on dozens of fifty inch plasma TVs.

2. Rumours Nightclub and Innuendo

Rumours Nightclub offers the hottest and easily most diverse scene in downtown St. Paul. This downtown St. Paul bar and club is LGBT friendly, but heterosexuals generally feel comfortable here too. Rumours Nightclub and Innuendo provides a unique mix of laid-back bar and exciting club. The Innuendo dance club is the energetic party area where DJs play a range of music, including everything from Madonna to Daft Punk. The Rumours Nightclub area is a chill place where guests can kick back with a beer, play pool or bingo, sing at the karaoke bar, or enjoy best drag shows in downtown St. Paul.

This is one of the friendliest downtown St. Paul bars, which is saying something, since downtown St. Paul is the epitome of "Minnesota Nice." If you're actually planning on actually eating at a St. Paul bar, Town House is the place to go. This downtown St. Paul bar has an extensive menu, which includes ten different kinds of pizza, egg rolls, seasoned fries and tater tots, pizza rolls, mozzarella sticks, and several other delicious appetizers. After eating, you can shoot pool, play darts, hang out in the piano lounge, watch the Pumps and Pearls Drag Revue or dance to a great mix of music.

No matter what type of atmosphere you prefer, you can find a great downtown St. Paul bar to hang out at. Alary's Bar, Rumours Nightclub and Innuendo and Town House are three excellent
