10. Linus from Charlie Brown: Linus van Pelt is the real brains in the Peanuts cartoons, just don't tell his sister Lucy. The blanket carrying boy has a way of getting to the heart of the matter. Quotes like " Never jump in a pile of leaves with a wet sucker, " and "Big sisters are the crabgrass in the lawn of life," are simple words that still ring true to this day.
9. Quacker from Tom and Jerry: The lost little duck Quacker has been a favorite of mine since I was a little kid. The trusting little yellow duck even eventually warms the heart of Tom. I always liked Quaker's voice better than his more famous duck counterpart Donald Duck.
8. Kilgore from My Life as a Teenage Robot: My kids were watching this show and although it isn't my favorite, by any stretch of the imagination, Kilgore inspired this list. The tiny plucky wind up robot with pincers for hands is obsessed with world domination. He wants to be a villain often shouting surrender, but everyone finds him cute, which just angers him more. Add all this to the fact that he often stops in the middle of something because he needs to be rewound and Kilgore is cartoon comedy gold.
7. Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh: Eeyore the gloomy gray donkey is a gentle tail slap aside the head of those annoying perky cartoon characters. The best part of Eeyore is his monotone voice and his realistic look at life, "Good afternoon, Piglet, if it is a good afternoon, which I doubt." Eeyore in real life would get annoying awful fast, but in the cartoon world he is the sometimes much needed rain cloud.
6. Boo Boo from Yogi Bear: Yogi's height challenged little chum and conscience, Boo Boo is the one that really is smarter than the average bear. While Yogi is often a bear of bravado and bluster, Boo Boo is the opposite quiet and calm, and more often than not right when he said, "Yogi, the ranger isn't going to like this."
5. Quinn from Daria: Now this spot was given to Quinn Morgendorffer but it really belongs to her and the fashion club. Quinn and the fashion club are a perfect example of many popular teenage girls who will smile at one other when around, but eat each other alive the moment they get the chance. More than anything Quinn represents the shallowness of many high schoolers, "I mean, he was really nice and cute and stuff, but he was only two inches taller than me. And my entire shoe-collection is based on the concept of dating guys three inches taller than me, or more." The sad thing is that after seeing shows like MTV's My Super Sweet 16, I realized there are real Quinn's out in the world.
4. Max from How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Max the dog never speaks a word, yet he is the best character from the Grinch. Even though the Grinch is mean and rotten to him, Max stays positive and loyal. Max isn't the biggest or strongest dog, but he tries his hardest and that's what matters.
3. Marvin the Martian from Bugs Bunny: Let me first say that I never really liked Bugs Bunny as a character, I always thought he was pretty much a jerk, so when Marvin the Martian and his space modulator come along I root for Marvin. It doesn't even bother me that Marvin wants to destroy the Earth so he can have a better view of Venus, just as long as Bugs is taken down I'm happy.
2. Gary from SpongeBob SquarePants: Gary is a simple snail that never says anything more than meow, but he and Plankton are the only things that are watchable on SpongeBob anymore. I used to really like SpongeBob, but somewhere along the line it took a really annoying turn and it garbage now. The writers haven't ruined Gary yet, but give them time. Gary is the smartest member of the SpongeBob crew and he just goes about his business despite the craziness around him.
1. Ralph Wiggum from The Simpsons: Ralph is the simplest of simple boys, but it is a blissful ignorance. Now Ralph isn't likable just because he is dim, if so then Peter Griffin and Patrick Star would be on the list, no Ralph has a special innocence that is charming. With quotes like, "Me fail English? That's unpossible!," there is no one quite like Ralph Wiggum.

Post a CommentI like the more obscure characters you've included. My Mother-in-Law and I were both big Winnie the Pooh fans and I know Eeyore was our favorite, too. ;-) Can think of his voice right now! Thanks for a sweet read,
