The Top Ten DC Comics Super-Heroines

The heroines of DC Comics are some of the most iconic female heroes in comics, and here are the most popular.

Wonder Woman
The number one super-heroine in the DC Universe. She is an Amazon princess who is gifted with superhuman abilities by the mythical Roman and Greek gods. Along with Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman is considered part of the trinity of DC's icon heroes.

Supergirl
Over the years, Supergirl has had many origins. The most well-known is that her city was separated from the destruction during the great Krypton blast. Superman found his cousin, Kara, the last survivor, and brought her to Earth. She lived in Smallville while Clark lived in Metropolis. He taught her the ways of Earth and the meaning of her powers. She is Superman's cousin.

Batgirl
Over the last twenty years, Batgirl has seen some changes. The Batgirl popularized in the 60s Batman show and years of comic books was shot by the Joker, paralyzing her from the waist down. Years later, another girl, Cassandra Cain, took over the mantle of Batgirl. She possessed martial arts training, making her an expert fighter. After she moved on, the Batgirl title was assumed by Stephanie Brown, Robin's ex-girl friend. She is the current Batgirl and under the tutelage of Barbara Gordon.

Zatanna
The is the magician of the DC Universe. She inherited her abilities from her father, another world renowned magician who trained Batman in the art of escape. Zatanna is an on-again, off-again member of the Justice League.

Huntress
The daughter of a prominent crime figure, Helena Bertinelli witnesses her family murdered by the mob. She swears to put and end to the Mafia and trains to become the Huntress. Working out of Gotham City, she is heavily associated with the Bat Family. She is also a member of the Birds of Prey, and has also been part of the Justice League and the Outsiders.

Black Canary
She is a founding member of the Justice League. Black Canary has expert fighting skills and also possesses the Canary Cry, a sonic scream. She has is married to the DC hero Green Arrow.

Power Girl
As powerful as Supergirl, Power Girl is originally from Earth 2. She is a member of the Justice Society of America. Her popularity has soared in recent years, garnering her her own monthly comic book title.

Donna Troy
Formerly Wonder Girl, Donna Troy is the spiritual sister of Wonder Woman. She is gifted with the same powers of super strength, speed and agility. She was also the first female member of the Teen Titans, and is currently a member of the Justice League.

Starfire
An alien from the planet Tamaran, Starfire (Koriand'r) possesses superhuman strength, speed and can fire "star blasts" from her hands. She was part of the New Teen Titans and once had a love affair with Robin (Dick Grayson). She is currently a member of the Justice League.

Mary Marvel
She is the little sister of Captain Marvel. She also possesses power given to her by the wizard Shazam - super strength, flight, speed and agility - and can gain those powers by uttering his namesake "Shazam"! Her first appearance actually predates the introduction of Supergirl.
