The Top Ten Detectives Currently on TV

Calleigh Duquesne is a supervisor and investigator on the hit show CSI: Miami. She does a large amount of detective work on the show in addition to her investigation and supervisory position. She is very happy go lucky and just about everyone likes her. She is often thought of as being "too happy" The beautiful Emily Proctor portrays the character. She is not as tough as some of the women on these shows but she is probably the prettiest.

NCIS has a version of CSI: Miami's Duquesne is Ziva David. She was previously a Mossad agent, and daughter of its director, from Israel who was an NCIS liaison. Eventually she leaves the Mossad in order to become a full agent of NCIS She is learning American customs and often slightly phrases American slogans wrong. It is not admitted to on the show yet, but there is an obvious attraction to fellow team member Tony DiNozzo. He often makes a wide array of sexual jokes at her expense. She is a trained assassin and has a bit of a cold demeanor except to her teammates. They have used her associations in the Mossad for several storylines including having to kill her brother as he was about to kill team leader Jethro Gibbs. Cote de Pablo portrays David on the show. She is not as hot as Emily proctor, but she is put together much better. She also has more of a natural beauty about her.

Tony DiNozzo is a former police officer and the second in command of the team. He is basically you macho jock ladies man type. He pretty much likes anything with legs and has a subtle but obvious interest in Ziva. He is not the smartest guy on the team and relies on street smarts to get things done. He is pretty tough and handy with a gun. A very interesting plot was that he was once framed by an assistant lab geek who DiNozzo once testified against. The team discovered the frame and helped him clear his name. He also was on a deep cover mission were he romanced the daughter of an arms dealer to help catch him but fell for her in the process. Tony DiNozzo is portrayed by Michael Weatherly.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs is the team leader for NCIS. He does not talk about family or his past much on the show, but he is a former USMC sniper. It appears that he worked for the CIA after the Marines and prior to NCIS and had various covert missions in Europe. He has been married four times. Three marriages ended in divorce and one his wife and daughter were murdered by a Mexican drug dealer. He sought vengeance and found it but was never proven so he did not get charged with it. While Gibbs is not up on the most up to date technology and stuff he is very precise and wants his team to follow the rules. He follows them in his own way but has a way of getting on the NCIS director's nerves by creative ways to do things. There are a couple humorous things that are regular themes on the show. One is that when people are talking about him or making fun of him, he is often behind them. He also is a contrast to the style of Tony DiNozzo. He often slaps him on the back of the head for being silly or stupid. Mark Harmon portrays the role of Jethro Gibbs on the series.

Each show seems to have the resident hottie or more and the original CSI is no exception. Catherine Williams is the hottie from this show. Like the rest she has both beauty and brains. Her character was based on an actual member of the Las Vegas (where the show is portrayed in) CSI team. She grew up pretty rough and initially did not excel at school or have direction despite her intelligence. She worked as an exotic dancer for awhile (she has the looks and body for it) and then someone encouraged her to go to school. She did and then joined CSI in the lad. When the initial supervisor Grissom went on sabbatical she became the CSI night team supervisor. She has one daughter who gets into minor trouble and parental battles of wit in some episodes. The lovely Marg Helgenberger plays the role on the series.

Cold case is a pretty good show that deals with cops in Philadelphia solving previously unsolved murders known as cold cases. Detective Lilly Rush is one of the main detectives on the series and basically stars in just about every episode. She is the resident Hott Chick for the show. Again much beauty and brains and often can talk confessions out of people, but not always. She typically sees the dead person at the end of the show almost like subtle way of saying that she found them justice. She had a rough life including and absentee dad an alcoholic mom who ended up dying in a later episode after coming back in to Detective Rush's life. She was shot in one episode and has had some issues in dealing with that in previous seasons but seems at the top of her game now. She has a little sister who is a bit of a pain in the neck and sleep with a previous fiancée of Rush's. Kathryn Morris portrays the role on the series.

Detective Scotty Valens is Rush's partner and also porked her sister. He is a bit less nice than she is and much more direct with the suspects. He also is not afraid to bend the rules every now and then like beating the heck out of a pedophile that he told to stay away from a playground. He has been under scrutiny of internal affairs over a shooting that he had that ended a hostage standoff were they were going to suspend him for a month, but his superior took it for him. He also has problems with relationships like Det. Rush. He had one girlfriend kill herself early in the series. He also porked Rush's sister and that caused strain on their relationship. Danny Pino portrays the character on the series.

Detective Mac Taylor is in charge of the team on CSI: New York. The show is basically just like CSI and CSI: Miami except the location is different. There are also differences in plots. For example you won't find many gambling themes except in the regular CSI and there are many more drug themes on CSI: Miami, but all shows have the drug theme in them that I named detectives from. He lost his wife in the terrorist attacks of 9/11 that still causes stress to him this day (I think that would trouble anyone). He is a former USMC officer and an expert in martial arts according to some storylines. He had a very long and interesting plot in which suspect that came to be known as the 333 stalker was after him. He would get calls at 3:33 all the time. It turns out that when he was Mac was younger a friend of his was killed and Mac did not (could not really) stop it. The younger brother of the murdered friend witnessed the murder and held Mac responsible even though his other brother was there as well. He attempted to kill Mac to seek revenge but Mac is able to escape with the help of his team. He is about a straight arrow as the come as far as team leaders and has a rather dry sense of humor. He is one of those very by the book kind of guys. The character is played by actor Gary Sinise. I think this is probably his best role next to LT. Dan in Forrest Gump.

Stella Bonasera is the second in command to Mac Taylor of the CSI: New York team. She is a half Greek and half Italian orphan who is fluent in Greek. She had a relationship with a guy named Frankie. He was taping them hitting it and put it on the net. She obviously broke up with them and he later broke into her apartment and held her hostage. She shot him after getting the upper hand. Her and Mac are very close. Seems like there may be seeds of a relationship there, but it has not been played out on the show yet. She is very direct and relentless and sometimes gets complaints about being too aggressive. She is also very tough and pretty hott. I would not call her as attractive as the hott chicks from CSI, CSI: Miami or Cold Case though. Actress Melina Kanakaredes.

Criminal Minds is a crime drama that deals with the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit. They are the people who do profiles of serial killers and things like that are brought into various parts of the country to assist with cases the local cops cant solve. My favorite character is Dr. Spencer Reid is a genius and graduated high school at 12. He is highly intelligent and has a photographic memory and like five doctorate degrees. He was bullied a lot as a child and had an absentee father and mentally ill mother that he actually had to commit to an institution. He is about as straight arrow as they come. He actually did have a drug addiction from a serial killer kidnapping and drugging him. He did kick the habit. He appears to not be very confident driving and once failed a firearms test and was not able to carry a gun because of this. He did save the day by shooting a suspect with a fully automatic weapon. When complimented for a good shot in the shoulder he told his boss "I was aiming for his head". Dr. Spencer Reid is played by Mathew Gary Grubler
