The Top Ten Goes Down to Nine on American Idol's Season 9

DiDi Benami is the Brokenhearted

American Idol Wednesday result shows are not my favorites. I much prefer Tuesdays when the contestants actually sing. The result shows are peppered with professional entertainers; however, it always flashes through my mind that it's a good thing they're not being judged by Simon and the gang. It was nice to see Ruben Studdard, winner of season 2, back on the stage.

The drama unfolded with the three empty stools sitting in anticipation of their 'bottom three' victims. Ryan started handing out the news as to which Idols were safe and which ones had ended up with the least amount of votes.

Lee Dewyze, Casey James and Aaron Kelly didn't have to wait long before being told that they were safe. They all deserve to move on.

Siobhan Magnus and Katie Stevens were given the verdict as a pair...one was in the bottom three and one wasn't. Siobhan apparently was concerned about her status this week, as she was fighting back tears when told that she was the safe one.

DiDi Benami was the second American Idol to be told she was in the bottom three.

Mike Lynche and Crystal Bowersox were given the green light, and rightfully so.

Tim Urban and Andrew Garcia received their news as a pair. Andrew was safe, but Tim rounded out the bottom three.

The unfortunate low-vote contestants took center stage where Katie was given a quick pass back to sit with the lucky safe seven. She'll be around again next week. DiDi and Tim endured the drama a while longer.

There were no gasps when DiDi Benami received the news that she was the one who had been voted off of American Idol. Her delivery Tuesday of "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted" was probably her worst. Wisely, DiDi chose not to repeat that performance for her exit song. Instead she sang Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon." The judges felt it was much better, but I'd have to disagree. It wasn't a big improvement at all. I think DiDi's emotions had a hold on her and she was understandably having major control problems. I like the tone of her voice, but she had a hard time staying on pitch. I think DiDi's talent will emerge in the American Idol Top Ten Tour...when she's not being judged and can finally relax.

I liked Didi in the beginning. I didn't like anything about her last performance though!

I actually could not believe that Katie was in the bottom 3. I am not a fan of hers, but I thought she did pretty well this week, so I was surprised that she did so poorly.

I agree again, Wednesday Idol can't hold a candle to Tuesdays. Cheers :)

Another nice recap, Karen. Well, Tim gets to hang on for at least another week.
