The Top Ten Love Songs for Valentines Day.

Here Are Some of My Favorite Songs for Valentines Day

Every year I usually find something to do with my wife for Valentines Day that she will find romantic. I am only in my thirties, but it still can be challenging to stay romantic in my older age. One thing that remains constant is I try to play some songs that she likes on the car while we are driving someplace like to dinner or whatever we might be doing. I also play guitar so I can play a few of these for her on my guitar and that just makes her melt. Here are my ten favorite Valentines Day songs in no particular order.

Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton is a timeless classic. This is one that I can play and sing and often will do for her. It also has gotten me out of the dog house a time or two. This is a very slow song that talks about how your girl always looks wonderful tonight.

Look at you girl by Chris Ledoux is not one of the most known country love songs. This is mostly due to the fact that the majority of his following were people in and around the sport of rodeo. He did later find mainstream success though before his death in 2005. This song is a very slow country guitar song. He is telling the girl he loves that she means everything to him and he can do anything in the world "when I look at your girl".

Just about everyone has "the ex". This is that one that is was pretty possible that you may have ended up with if this or that had been a bit different. I had one of those. Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks is a song not only reminds me of her and that fact that we were great together, but me and my wife were just meant to be. It is about how you may wish you were with one person but just because God did not grant you that wish it did not mean he wasn't listening. The song says "some of Gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers". Me and the ex just were not meant to be and I met the love of my life because of an "unanswered prayer.

What list of love songs would be complete without a song by the King? I can't help falling in love with you by Elvis Presley is an all time favorite. It is just a song about no matter what people say or what you do "I can't help falling in love with you".

I was not always the most behaved person around and actually found how to live the righteous life a bit later in my life. The yellow rose of Texas duet by Lane Brody and Johnny Lee. I play this and we have performed it as a duet for talent shows. The song is about the lady who is just about everything to you just like the yellow rose is to Texas. She knows that I have stumbled and fell. She kept my pride from dying and saved my soul from hell.

I always liked Guns N Roses and Sweet Child O' Mine is one of my favorite songs. It is about that girl that is the love of your life and various things about her from her skin, hair and smile. Sweet Child O' Mine reminds me of being young and in love.

I have been a big KISS fan for just about all my life. They actually have a few songs I think are pretty good for Valentines Day. In the late 1980s and early 1990s the power ballad was pretty popular. My favorite from KISS was Forever from the Hot in the Shade album. This is a song a couple friends of mine used for the bride and groom dance. It is about loving someone forever. Paul says it best when he says "Until my life is through, girl ill be loving you forever".

When me and my wife got engaged I Cross my Heart by George Strait was playing on the radio and is still one of our favorites. It was part of the soundtrack for George Strait's movie Pure Country. We dance at least once dance per year to this song. She will "never find a love as true as mine".

Another great duet that I like is buy married country power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. This duet won the couple a pretty good amount of hardware when it came awards time. The song is about their enduring love and how a mate's love can do things to you and help you through various things. I really like this song, but must say I am not a big fan of either performer. I do like a couple songs by each of them though.

Alabama has always been another favorite band of mine and have some pretty good songs about various topics. This is an old classic of theirs. It mentions things that a persons love might do like make coffee too strong, stay stupid things and so forth, but she is perfect to him. Basically tells everyone not to worry about his girl because "She's close enough to perfect to me".
