1. Led Zeppelin.

Regarded as the first heavy metal band, Led Zeppelin helped to pioneer the music of the 70s. Led Zeppelin IV is one of the best selling albums in musical history. The number one hit "Stairway to Heaven," is still one of the most requested recordings in history.

2. Elton John.

One of the top superstars of the 70s is Elton John. His numerous No# 1 hits such as: "Rocket Man" and "Goodbye Yellow brick road," have helped to make his music immortal. In four decades of recording his music has sold over 200 million copies.

3. Pink Floyd.

As the 70s evolved so did Pink Floyd's innovative style of music. Mega albums such as: "The Dark side of the Moon," and also "The Wall" have helped to shape the face of music in the 70s. Pink Floyd has sold over 200 million albums worldwide.

4. The Rolling Stones.

The Rolling Stones are the legends of rock and roll. The Stones have recorded such hits as: "It's only Rock and Roll," and also "You can't always get what you want." Their 1975 American tour was kicked off as the band played on a moving flat bed trailer in New York City.

5. The Eagles.

The best selling album in musical history: "Greatest Hits: 1971 -1975" was released by the Eagles. Hits like "Hotel California," and "Life in the fast lane," helped the Eagles to soar to new heights in the music world.

6. Aerosmith.

The flamboyant style of Aerosmith has definitely left its footprint on the music industry. Hits like: "Toys in the Attic," and "Walk this Way," have created a new style of rock and roll. Along with their hit "Sweet Emotion" Aerosmith seemed to literally dominate the 70s.

7. Bob Seger.

Such immortal hit as: "Turn the page," and "Against the Wind," have secured Bob Seger's place in musical history. One of his most famous songs: "Old time Rock and Roll," seems to speak for itself. His music and lyrics tells the story of what growing up in America is all about.

8. Marvin Gaye.

Here is a true musical superstar. With legendary hits like: "I heard it through the Grapevine" and "Let's get it on," Marvin's melodic voice echoed throughout the 70s. His songs will remain forever as he was nicknamed: "The Prince of Soul."

9. Queen.

With the release of "Sheer Heart Attack" and "Night at the Opera," Queen gained international success. Their single: "Killer Queen" also became an instant success. One of the bands most famous concerts was in Hyde Park, London, where 150,000 fans were in attendance for a free concert.

10. Fleetwood Mac.

In 1977 Fleetwood Mac received a Grammy Award for the album Rumours. Numerous number one singles also came from this album. In 1979 "Tusk" was released, and also spawned three number one hits. Most of their music is still popular today after thirty years.

All of these musicians have helped to make music what it is today. Their influence on the evolution of music will live on for generations to come.
