The Top Ten Songs by Third Day

Formed in 1991, Third Day has become one of the premier rock bands in Contemporary Christian Music over the last decade. The group was founded by vocalist/guitarist Mac Powell and guitarist Mark Lee as a two-piece band. Powell and Lee had previously played together in a garage band called Nuclear Hoedown. In 1992, Third Day gained a rhythm section with the addition of bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr, who had played in an opening act called the Bullard Family Singers. The band gained a following in the Atlanta area with their mix of southern rock music and biblically-based lyrics.

Guitarist Brad Avery joined the group in 1995, making Third Day a 5-piece band. Later that year, they released their self-titled debut album through indie label Gray Dot Records. A year later, Third Day signed with Christian label Essential Records. Essential re-released the debut album, which has since become a bestseller. Since then, the band has released eight more albums and won numerous Dove and Grammy awards. They have made numerous TV appearances, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and FX's 30 Days. Their next album, Christmas Offerings, iis scheduled for release on October 17th.
