The Top Ten Thanksgiving Songs for Feasting

Rachel Heller
Thanksgiving is fast approaching and many people will be having large Thankgiving dinners with their friends and family. Thanksgiving has always been a time for food. I have always associated Thanksgiving with many mouthwatering dishes to gobble up at one's leisure. I have also associated Thanksgiving with music because music is played during Thanksgiving dinner at my house. Therefore, I feel comfortable providing my top ten Thanksgiving songs for feasting.

1. Sailing. Sailing is an easy listening piece by Christopher Cross. This song makes the list because it is a very calming song that is perfect for eating a big Thanksgiving meal and digesting it too. In addition, the Pilgrims sailed to America and celebrated their first Thanksgiving with the Indians.

2. Henry the Eighth, I Am: This song makes the top ten Thanksgiving songs list because it is a fun song for a Thanksgiving feast. Also, it is rumored that Henry the VIII ate much turkey.

3. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving: This is a smooth instrumental piece by Vince Guralidi. It makes the list because I love the Peanuts gang. Who wouldn't love to have a Thanksgiving feast which included popcorn and toast cooked by Snoopy.

4. 1000 Bottles of Beer: This song talks about beer. It makes the list because people like to drink beer with turkey. I also know people who cook Thankgiving turkey in beer.

5. The Escape Song: This is song by Rupert Holmes. This song makes the list because it is about escaping everyday worries and being thankful for what you have. Thanksgiving is about relaxing and being thankful for life's blessings.

6. We Are The World: This song was recorded by various artists in the 80s and it talks about all of us being a part of one big world. It makes the top ten Thanksgiving songs list because Thanksgiving is associated with acceptance and celebrating with everybody.

7. That's What Friends are For: This song is about the power of friendship. This song makes the list because Thanksgiving is about spending time with friends.

8. I Can: This is a jazz piece by Dave Koz that talks about making it against all odds. It makes the list because the Pilgrims made it to America against all odds.

9. Yellow Submarine: This is a classic and fun song by the Beatles. This song is a Thankgiving favorite because both Thanksgiving and the Beatles are classics. Also, someone could travel by yellow submarine to get to Thanksgiving dinner.

10. Row, Row, Row Your Boat: This song is about rowing a boat. It makes the list because a boat was the Pilgrims means of transportation from England to America. In addition, this song makes a great round robin song to sing at your Thanksgiving feast. Source: www.barnesandnoble.com

That is just the worst list ever. The songs aren%27t much about Thanksgiving. The songs don%27t blend well. The reasons are all over the place.
